or you can get VMware Fusion 1.1 for Mac with a free upgrade to version 2.0 (FUS-ENG-M-CP-1.X) @ onsale.com for $15.99 AR. I upgrade it to 2.0 without problem.

jeez. just read VMware fusion 3 got announced today. $79.99 for full, $39.99 for upgrade. Prices will most likely be cheaper on sites like Amazon so is anyone cancelling their order?
Update: Well this is good news. We just got Fusion3 for $17.
What if I just bought VMware Fusion 2? Customers who purchase VMware Fusion 2 from October 1, 2009 through end of November qualify for a free downloadable upgrade to VMware Fusion 3. In order to qualify for this free upgrade, customers will need to fill out an online form and provide related proof of purchase. The free upgrade redemption website will be available beginning October 27th at www.VMware.com/fusion. Free upgrades will take up 4 weeks to deliver.

I saw that Fusion 3 was announced . In the past previous owners were able to upgrade Fusion regardless of which version they had, but I haven't heard if this policy is still ongoing.
Price is now $39.99 at Amazon. Two rebates available... (1) $10 new user rebate & (2) $30 competitive rebate. They may not be stackable since both require original UPC's.

Sounds good to me. In for the free upgrade to 3.0 when it's released
But will the upgrade use the same proof of purchase as the rebate?
