I had bought one of these (from Amazon) a few months ago and I was able to successfully update the map . I found the map update option in tomtom Home and just gave it a try - was pleasantly surprised when the map was updated. The refurbished unit I recd didn't have any cosmetic blemishes on it - looked like new.
