This may be a pricing mistake at Bestbuy.com, but the highly rated Epson Artisan 810 printer, normally $299 is on sale for $199. The model it replaces, the 800, is on sale for $269. This smells like a pricing mistake but is a great deal for a great printer. I just purchased the same printer at Staples last week when it was on sale for $249 (now back at $299). It is at least $50 cheaper than other online sources.

I have the 800, awesome printer. What makes the 810 better, or what's different?

You must print regularly. I have the 700, and print only once every week or two. It eats ink for lunch - I've gotten as few as a dozen 4x6 prints on a cartridge because it has a cleaning cycle it runs when it's been idle too long. If I print just a single page, lose 7-10% of my ink. It also takes a good 1.5-2 minutes to warm up. Maybe the 800 is different?

Makes beautiful prints, though, and the built in CD tray is much better than the old version.

probably a reprogram to call the ink carts empty even sooner. hehe

I have printed 20 4x6 photos from the same printer cartidges. So far I am not seeing the printer eat ink. I have the standard cartidges also. In checking my ink levels, they are over half full. I don't have much idle time so I doubt I the cleaning cycle is running on my 810..or perhaps they improve the use of ink with the new series. The 810 also adds the duplex option where it was an additional cost on the 800.

Well, after having it 8 months, and printing maybe 2-3 times month on average, I've gone through three OEM cartridge sets and solidly 30-40% of a CIS tank set. Just two days ago, I tried printing and got the "ink pads full, need replacing soon - contact epson" or something similar on the display, which means "Throw the printer away, it's useless now." I think it's a bum printer, but it's not worth the $100 I paid for it to get it fixed. (If I could get back the $250 I spent on ink...that would be worth it, but it'll never happen).

Well, I couldn't find anybody else with issues on the net, so I'm presuming it's just mine. Maybe I'll stop by and get the 810. At least I already have the CIS for it, if I decide to go that way.

If you only print documents, get a laser. I print a bit more then that, but always end up in similar situations with any inkjet I have owned. Somehow I never seemed to get much out of a cartridge. It was a bit of a mental challange to step down to B&W vs photo printer even though I very very rarely ever printed anything in color, and the rare time I did it was nothing I NEEDED....just the whole it's there if I need/want it thing. Now with the laser, man, SOOOO much better now. It's actually faster from a cold start as the warm up time till first page is quicker then inkjets doing whatever they do with all the noise and moving around before starting to actually print, and with no ink carts to clog or dry up, you should actually get every last page that you have toner for, even if it takes years.

EpsonStore has it for $199.00. If you apply coupon code e9sav you get another $30 off. Free ground shipping. I got mine for about 186 after CA (way to high) sales tax. Best deal you will find anywhere.

Fry's has it in-store (not online) for $199 AND a free $60 gift card. Limit one per person per day. I just printed a stack of 4x6 photos on glossy photo paper and they're absolutely stunning. I owned a graphics business and am not easily impressed, but this thing prints beautiful images.

Amazon now has it for $179

Indeed. Usually the smarter printer purchase is the previous model.

It is not a price mistake. Frys sold Epson Artisan 810 printer after Thanksgivings for $199.

Epson says Two-sided printing saves paper for the 800 but when you add to cart, one of the options is a duplexer for Automatic two-sided printing, which is a feature included in the 810.
