"receive an email directly from PayPal inviting you to participate in the Offer"

Please put YMMV in title.

Just received the email, gr8 going OP

I also received the email and tried some of the stores. Some of the links don't even work. And the ones that do work sell JUNK! Completely useless coupon. Don't even waste your time.

Nothing against OP. It's Paypal that stinks.

I dont agree..focalprice has stuff that hard to find..they are all made in china and cheap stuff but its nice to get free car usb power converter, audio cables etc.

Actually I am wondering where I can find cheap circuit breakers that is used in car chargers..I am not sure what they are called.

a fuse?

eturkan said: . . .Actually I am wondering where I can find cheap circuit breakers that is used in car chargers..I am not sure what they are called.

'Cheap' circuit breakers may not be what you would want, if you value your electronics. Circuit breakers are fine if they actually break the circuit when they're supposed to, if they don't open the circuit then something more important (and costly) likely will. Corrosion, fatigue, defects, or other 'gremlins' can cause the breaker to not function properly.

Fuses are a one time deal, but they have a great track record for protecting an electrical circuit. If a fuse (or circuit breaker) opens the circuit, it's an indicator that you have an issue. The fuse, requiring slightly more effort to replace than resetting a breaker, may spur one to troubleshoot the issue and finding the cause instead of taking the lazy way out and treating the symptom (resetting the breaker, replacing the fuse).

Anyway, a local Radio Shack should have a low voltage breaker if that's what you've decided upon and would probably work out to be the same or cheaper than getting one shipped someplace.

Looks like Porqin beat me to it, much less wordy as well. . .

impossibly slow websites!

Focalprice and bestofferbuy usually aren't slow for me. Must have been sent to a ton of people who are now all on and taking this offer before it expires.

Good thing it doesn't end until Nov. 17th. No big hurry to complete your purchase tonight...

I'm sorry if I'm just overlooking something simple here... but... I don't understand how one receives the email? Do we have to request it? Do we have to make a purchase first? What are the necessary steps (if any)?

Probably nothing you can do if you didn't get the email. Paypal regularly does targeted mailings to select members. What their selection criteria are, who knows. Don't feel bad. I got this email, but am not enthused about any of the (overseas) vendors on this list. Feh.

Focalprice has Transend 8gb SD card for $20.43 free ship. Net $0.43. Deal. Search SKU # MF040L

ordered! right on time and it's a sdhc class 6 card to boot! exactly what i needed for my lumix fz35

for those of you who have dealt with focalprice before, how has your experience been? there are some less than stellar (getting wrong/defective products, nightmare customer service encounters) reviews on resellerratings.com which concern me.

anyone know if any of the focalpoint usb microsd card readers can read microsdhc cards that are 8gb and higher?

i see a few 99 cent ones but it doesnt mention if they read sdhc

the only one that does that is 99 cents is a blue one but i personally own a blue one and it doesnt read my sandisk 8gb shdc class 2 card

Gee, been a Paypal/eBay user for years and I never get promotional e-mails.

EDIT: No, definitely not. I meant to say i don't get any GOOD promotional e-mails, but i always get crappy offers from paypal, like "free shipping from X" "5 dollars off 100 from Y"

Well perhaps if you didn't get the email you should check to make sure you didn't select the 'i don't want to receive promotional emails' button during signup.

I just ordered from focalprice but i don't see any indication of the paypal 20 dollar Cash Back. I know it says it won't post till december but i see no indication that it registered. has anyone else seen something?

I was worried about this. Don't pay pal e-mails have to say you r name to be legit?

I actually got one. Thanks OP, I usually just trash these paypal/eBay emails.

I got this in 3 email accounts that all have paypal and cant find anything to buy. It looks like all of the stores are in hong kong.

Sprintx said: I got this in 3 email accounts that all have paypal and cant find anything to buy. It looks like all of the stores are in hong kong. All kinds of neat stuff on focalprice.com... even if a lot of it's kinda cheaply made plastic. It's similar to DealExtreme, but not as large of a selection. A large selection of LED lights, stuff for game systems, cables and accessories for computers, etc, etc, etc. Never used focalprice.com before and am a little concerned about some of the customer service problems, but for $20 off $20 (with the email), it's worth the chance.

Picked up a Transcend 8GB MicroSD, Bluetooth USB Dongle, laptop numeric keypad, 4-port USB hub and HTC phone charger for like $21 after the coupon.

EDIT: Just saw a Kingston 8GB MicroSD for a couple bucks cheaper than the Transcend. Not sure how I missed that the first time. Oh well, not worth having them change the order and screwing something up w/ the $20 rebate.

I received this email. The only site that seemed promising was focalprice but nothing really inspired me so I deleted the email and moved on. I'll be interested in seeing what other deals folks here are finding and posting, if something too tempting turns up maybe I'll jump on this after all. So far, the 8gb SD card sounds most interesting.

I don't get it. You can get an 8GB microSd or SD card for essentially free (no rebate forms and nothing to file) and people are lukewarm about it?

Yeah, but I don't need it. I stocked up on a number of free SD cards years ago that I've never even used because I have so many. I don't see the point of getting something I won't use just because it's free. Wish I had friends techy enough to give it to/who would use it, but since they're not/won't, I'm hoping to find something else. I'm looking through the website again but keep losing interest 'cause the pics load so slowly. But, as someone else above said, this doesn't expire for a while so I have time.

has anybody actually been able to place an order at bestofferbuy? I'm getting stuck in a checkout loop going from paypal back to bestofferbuy etc.

I ordered some toners from sasa, they've free shipping.so $24-$20 that'll be a great deal. hope paypal won't suck on my order

If you guys have not realized until now, this seems to be a scam.

Iconix® Truemark® Email Identification" ..this Is from Paypal..it is a FREE software which will check the Email identity....and will Show You "a gold lock with a check mark" which means its valid ...or if not shown ..its NOT valid.....Please any of you guys can check this for us.....I am at My work right now and hence cannot Install this software.....No need to worry this a a Legit Software ....links from your Paypal Account...Thanks...courtesy of SD

Hi, I just bought something from bestofferbuy.com and it is $20.40. And I have no idea about the coupon list in my email for this merchant, so I use it. The coupon makes my total is $18. I am worried about that it is less than %20, which may let me get $20 Cash Back. Then I called paypal to cancel that transaction and ask about this $20 offer. But the RP doesn't know anything about this offer and she let me talk to bestofferbuy.com. So I doubt that is the offer from Paypal? Can we get our $20 back? Need you Guys help, Thank you very much.

I loaded the security software and it is showing that this IS a legit email from paypal. I'm still not a believer though. Also my name is not in my paypal email. Just my email address.

I installed the Truemark software, and it does indeed show a "gold lock with a green checkmark" next to the $20 PayPal offer. (Even in Hotmail.) It also shows the same icon next to other mailing list emails in my inbox, including those from eBay, PayPal, American Airlines, etc.

I still think it's a bit fishy that all the merchants in this offer seem to be from China.....but then again, everything seems to be from China these days.

edit: the $20 PayPal email had my first name, but not my last name. Usually any email offer from PayPal will have both my first and last name on it.

the email seems legit to me - it seems to be "themed" for purchases overseas. Says in the email "What awesome thing will you find from Tokyo? Hong Kong? Beijing?" Seems like they are trying to drum up business to these type sites. But I've still been unable to actually check out at bestofferbuy... Oh well - guess I'll wait a day or two and see if it gets straightened out.

Skipping 227 Messages...

It has been a bad experience, first with their merchant focalprice and the with paypal. I did receive $20 from paypal but basically, it was a wash. Focalprice sent me a defective 8GB card and wanted an additional $10 for "postage" to mail a replacement. After filing a complaint with paypal, they reduced the postage demand to $1.70. After sending them $1.70, they sent a 2GB replacement MMC card. After asking for a refund, focalprice agreed but never sent the refund. So I escaleted my complaint with paypal only to have them find in favor of focalprice even though they had the emails from focalprice agreeing to a refund. What I found out is that unless you are purchasing from an eBay seller, PAYPAL WILL NOT PROTECT YOU AGAINST BROKEN OR DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE. They will only act on your behalf if the merchant doesn't send you any merchandise. This was a shock to me and I will never use paypal for non-eBay purchases with unknown businesses. A regular credit card gives you much better recourse agaist dishonest merchants. This was really disappointing as I have dealt with other overseas merchants like DealExtreme and they have made good on defective items. Since paypal was promoting these merchants, they should have taken more responsibility, but they ducked citing their terms or agreement. Anyway, I hope someone learns from my mistake or at least realizes ahead of time that paypal will not back you up for defective merchandise, unless purchased through eBay.
