Amazon Friday's sale:

Link to product

* Battery charger for NiCad and NiMH AA and AAA rechargeable batteries
* Features 4 modes: charge, discharge, refresh, and test
* Charges both AA & AAA rechargeable batteries simultaneously
* 4 separate LCD displays for simultaneous readouts
* Overheat-detection to prevent over-charging

Excellent reviews. Won't last long.

This is the lowest price I've ever seen. In for two.

these chargers are FAR better than the typical 3rd party chargers or cheapo ones that come with batteries. They are very reliable and give a true full charge.

I started to read your post and thought: Free After Rebate? Where? Then I read the rest of it. Oh well.

been waiting for a deal on the lacrosse. in for 1.

actually, bought 2 more for gifts.

any suggestion how to make it over $25 to get the free shipping?

Been looking at getting my first La Crosse charger and was wondering, is the BC-9009 really worth the extra $10, or $15 in this situation?? I know you get some batteries with the 9009, which I plan on getting some eneloops anyway, and I know you get some C & D adapters and a case. But as for USEFUL functionality, which is the better deal? Thanks in advance guys!

Awesome Deal!

Functionally, the only difference is that the 9009 lets you charge your batteries at a higher rate than the 700 if you want, but a higher charge rate creates more heat, which is not good for your batteries.

Got one. Thanks OP and thanks lycme!

If you need a good filler The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2-Disc Ultimate Edition) (1974) adds only $4.99 for a 2 DVD set.

This Decal is $0.13 from Amazon and is out of stock but orderable. Use it as a filler and then once your charger ships you can cancel the item if you feel like it.

I've actually read in the Candle Power forums that it's best to charge your batteries at a rate that will fully charge the batteries in 1-2 hours, so if you have 2600mah batteries, then the 700ma max charging rate of the BC-700 means that you're looking at almost 4 hours.

Gone at that price?

Still says available at $24.99, but not when you look at all the stores.

sold out. Do Amazon Friday sales ever come back in stock before the price goes up?

That's a great idea!! I've never tried that nor thought to try that, does it work?? If I just order something that is out of stock or "ships in 1-2 months" as a filler, I can just cancel it after they ship my main item??

Hasn't been this low since Jul 20, 2009 05:28 AM

back in stock.

I have some rechargeable batteries but no charger anymore. If the group thinks this is a good one, I'll take one.

I read a little of that thread from candle power. Yes, it is recommended to charge batteries at .5C to 1C (1 to 2 hours) but I didn't really see anything that says charging it at a lower rate is detrimental. I read that it's when the smart charger doesn't realize that the battery is full and continues charging after that is when it hurts the battery. The chances of that happening are greater as you charge below 500 mah.

This charger cannot charge fully depleted AAA batteries. It just does not detect them saying that the cell is "null" (not occupied). Other than that it's a very nice charger.

There is a work around for that. Take a cheap charger that you probably have lying around and charge the battery for 3 minutes. After that, you can place it in the LaCrosse and it will charge. If you don't have a cheap charger, you can put 2 batteries in the LaCrosse, take a paper clip and bridge the contacts of the two seperate batteries. I recommend the first solution first and will not take any responsibility if you try the second. I've never tried the second workaround, just read about it.

Thanks OP - in for 1. I had been looking at this before, but couldn't swallow a $40 price tag for a charger. Much more reasonable.

Why not; green! Replacing my other cheapo charger.

Batteries came with the charger are not worth extra bucks...

do you have a link for that? cause everything ive ever read about battery charge states that slower is better..

If someone needs a starter kit, then go for the BC-9009. Or else get this for now and get some Eneloop for $20 when costco has sale.

don't throw out that cheap charger yet, you may need it to prepare some batteries before they can be charged on the la crosse.

Can you elaborate?

Can you read the posts on this very page?

I prefer to use items not in stock due to the fact it will often delay shipping of the main item if the filler item says ships in 1-2 months. Once the main item ships you are free to modify / cancel the remaining part of the order. Just don't do it before it ships.

Ok thanks for reply.

Do you think there is any point in keeping it in this mode any further? or I should just charge them using any other mode?
