Endangered Species Chocolate offers its Endangered Species Chocolate Premium Organic 1.4-oz. Chocolate Bars in five flavors (Organic Dark Chocolate with Blueberries pictured) for 49 cents each. Shipping adds $6.95 for up to 50 of these chocolate bars, so it's best to buy in bulk. That's $24.50 for 50 bars. These bars feature organic, ethically-traded, shade-grown chocolate.

MiracleMax said: Actually, shipping kills the deal for me. It is $6.95 to ship to California:
Shipping And Tax Estimate Shipping: (Standard Ground (3-6 business days)) $6.95 Tax: $0.00
That's why the OP suggested buying in bulk to keep the per item cost down (there is a flat rate shipping cost of $6.95 for up to 50 bars).

Great find! Thanks. These are excellent chocolate for those who appreciate excellent chocolate. Also some of the procedes go to a good cause, also they are an ethical company, ecologically friendly grown bean, fair wages to foreign workers, etc.
Usually way out of my price range. At half a buck I bought a bunch!
I remember when this was a local company down the street. Original owner was pushed out and then they moved productin out of state to IN. Unfortunate, at least the price is good.

I second that. I usually buy the 3oz bars when they are on sale at Kroger. They are very delicious. I usually stick to the dark chocolate for the extra antioxidants and to reduce the sugar content.
Looks like shipping is calculated in 60-bar increments: $6.95 for the first 60 bars, $3 more for the next 60, etc. Maximizing the shipping spread, the best value would be 60 bars, 120 - even better (if you can eat that many)

can't say "No" to chocolate... Bought 40. I may give them away around Halloween/Christmas
I seriously just bought 300 bars to fuel my friends' addictions and also for holiday gifts - came out to 141.90 shipped for all of them after the coupon (props aliasgar)... as per their website, "10% of net profits go to endangered species bla bla... makes me wonder if they are making any money on bars for 49 cents.

Holy Moly!! I found it tough to justify buying 40 bars. 300!!!
I'm gonna save your post in case my wife gives me a hard time for buying 40.

Gee, looks like they're pretty slow to ship out. I ordered on 10/27/2009 2:22:41 AM and it still hasn't shipped. Two whole days...nothing. I'm hungry for chocolate!! Once I eat all these chocy bars, I'll probably be even more impatient.
Anyone else get a little cranky/snippy after eating a few chocy bars??
Just FYI for those buying these for the antioxidant properties. The recommended daily amount is 7 grams of a 70% dark chocolate. At 1.4 ozs, these bars come up just short of 40 grams. Therefore, each bar would be just short of a 6 day supply.
