the Elite is $269. Other than the larger hard drive is there any reason to purchase the Elite over this box? I see Elite comes with 2 games, but not sure I would play those games anyway. We would be fairly low level users.
These systems are still moddable, some newer systems made in July, august, and September cannot be modded. Go with these if you plan on modding your console anytime soon.
LongQ said: Just found that. Thanks all. In one! According to that review, this comes with one controller. Is the warranty of this console still 3 years?
Yes, warranty on RROD/E74 is 3 years. For everything else, it's 1 year.
Whether the system is moddable or not depends on the mfg date of the Lite-On drive. Unfortunately, lite-on drives from august 2009 and on have a low success rate when it comes to modding. Keep your fingers crossed and pray that you get a 83850C Lite-On made in July or earlier.

From my limited research, it's hard to tell the difference for the most part between 360 and Elite.

can you connect to XBOX Live with modded consoles?

thanks I'd say no. Basically the Elite has a bigger hdd and currently comes with the 2 holiday bundle games (both of which can be purchased for $20 or 30 individually). Older Elites compared to old pro used to have bigger differences (20gb vs 120gb hdd, HDMI, etc) but not anymore. I think that's the main reason they've announced that they'll discontinue the Pro model. I love my Elite and have used it heavily over the past 2yrs or so and I've only used up about 40gb. If you're a light user, 60gb should be more than enough.
Oh, the only other difference is color. Elite is black, Pro is white. So unless you have an unhealthy obsession with the color black, go for Pro while you still can.
EDIT: BTW, is $50 instant discount and bing CB really stackable? I've read a few comments in the past of people having their CB canceled a few weeks later saying that it can't be combined. It may work, but I think it's YMMV.

Instant Rebates are fine...it's coupons that kill bing.
haridsv said: Newbie question. Can we use it like a media center? yep! as a matter of fact, if you have a computer with windows MC on the same network, it syncs up very nicely. Also, if you have Netflix account you can stream instant watch movies/shows to the xbox.

Would also like to view other streaming videos from sites like youtube and hulu. Does it come with a good browser to view flash videos? What about real videos?

Windows Media Center allows you to stream video/audio from computer to the xbox. They update the onboard OS frequently so it might be available in the future (they're adding facebook and twitter in the next release), but no news of things like youtube or hulu as of yet. Xbox, unlike PS3 or Wii, does not have an internet browser either.
There are 3rd party applications that allow you to do what you described but I don't have experience with them so I can't really comment.
If you download and install TVersity Pro (for free) then you can stream Hulu and Youtube and any video / audio format files from any computer on your network to your Xbox 360.

Thanks. In 4 1 2. I'm a low level user so this should be great for a Christmas Gift.
How do you get 5% from Discover on Dell purchases and will it stack with Bing? Thanks!
There should be a Shop Discover link/image when you login to discovercard.com Click see retailers. Dell is under there.

Did anybody's order get canceled? I just checked and Dell canceled my order without sending me an email.
My order status says: After receiving your order, Dell was notified by the manufacturer that this product has been discontinued and is no longer available.
