Looks like a good deal for some of the new games that aren't discounted much anywhere

Pretty good deal I think. It says "select titles" but pretty much every game I could think of were on there - except preorders. At this pace, Amazon is going to bankrupt me before the end of this holiday season.

Not a bad deal at all. It's just that right now Best Buy has a Buy-Two-Get-One-Free game deal. When that's over, Amazon's deal will look a little better.

Best Buy is actually offering free shipping on all three games. There is the tax issue but you get the third game completely free even if it's $60. You still have to pay a little extra for a game over $40 with Amazon's deal so both deals work out.

in 4 Uncharted 2 + Street Fighter IV

There is one positive to this Amazon deal vs. B2G1. If you did B2G1 the discount only applies to the lowest priced game. So it doesn't make sense to mix and match price points. To get the best deal you either have to get 3 brand new AAA titles, or 3 cheap games. I like this new Amazon deal so i can get a few cheap games, or 1 expensive game + 1 discount game, whatever so it totals $80. Then I get the $40 credit and can apply that to whatever I want down the line.

Of course I'm not arguing against the Best Buy deal either. Since I already took advantage of that one. But the Amazon deal allows a little more variety if you can't find 3 full price games you want or so you don't have to force yourself to get 3 "equally priced" older games.

There's a number of hidden advantages to either deal. Right now I'm in a double points period on my Amazon Via card so a $120 game purchase will net me 720 points instead of the usual 360. Of course, someone with a Best Buy credit card will probably have similar benefits. On top of that, the Best Buy deal allows you to buy multiple games over the week and keep scoring free titles. The Amazon credit can only be used once.

I'm not knocking either deal either. However, someone can walk into Best Buy right now and get three AAA new release games for the price of two plus tax and still pay a little less than what the same games would cost on Amazon. I'll probably take Amazon up on their game offer but at the moment Best Buy's deal is nothing to sneeze at.

tyop! - more games heading my way !

Think I could buy 2 titles now from Amazon, then apply the $40 credit to MW2 and get the 20 future credit... too?

I might like that since I won't have to do the Bestbuy game shuffle in a week or two.

Yes, why not?

Unfortunately the Xbox 360 version of Williams Pinball Hall of Fame, which at $29 would have been an excellent 2nd title to hit the $80 mark, is not included in the promo, apparently.

Cool that the ECA code stacks with this deal.

I looked over the "fine print" and it looks good. Hopefully they will send the $40 code before the $20 pre-order code for MW2 goes away.

Thanks OP- I like Amazon over BestBuy and this is actually a better deal for me (not counting time/gas).

damn it, why did i pre-ordered uncharted 2. could have saved $40 on pre-order of god of war III

Video game madness!!!!

Leave it to Amazon to trump BB. This deal is muuuuuch better than BB. Being able to pick up a couple mid priced games and get a $40 promo for use later, plus no taxes, what a deal and hey, thanks for the post spider, I am always on top of game deals but knew nothing about this.

So the ECA code is back? How exactly does somebody (who already signed up for ECA) get the code to work? Last I saw was that the code wasn't fixed on the ECA Forum.

He prob had a code from before they broke the code generator.

sweet deal, ordered uncharted and borderland, gonna use 40 and 10 from COD for GOW3. Amazon gave me an option to get it today. crazy. i heart Amazon. thanks op

That is not true, the generator was never broken. Folks figured out some of the older generated codes could be used/stacked in conjunction with the newer ones, resulting in a game being 20% off. This and only this caused Amazon to request ECA to remove the generator (temporarily, although it still has not been reinstated).

1) I don't think you can combine 2 coupons on one order. (But, you should be able to use the $40 on COD:MW2, then the $20 on GoW - might have to "re-place" your order).
2) The COD:MW2 will be $20, not $10 and Amazon will update previous pre-orders to reflect that.

Oh, I wondered why. I just thought people were generating them and selling them (or something like that). Didn't know people were combining them. Good job DBs. At least I didn't pay for the ECA membership... too bad I didn't generate a couple before it broke.

Just to clarify, I had a single code that I had generated when I first joined ECA a few weeks back, and hadn't used yet.

Bought Mario Kart, LEGO Batman, and Resident Evil 4 (all for Wii) for $80.47

Thanks OP! Just a word of caution - some games show up with the $40 promo, even though they are clearly not sold by Amazon. Be sure to look at the seller.

Between this and the BB deal, my kids will be very happy this Christmas.

Yep, that's the story I heard too. Unfortunately, ECA announced that they're going to end the Amazon partnership "for the time being" (announced yesterday). I think they intentionally left open the possibility that it'll come back later, but I think they were getting annoyed with everyone asking when it was going to be back up. Anyway, at this point, it'll probably be better to assume it's not coming back and be grateful if/when it does.

looks like they raised the price of some games (ninja gaiden sigma was around 13, now 25?! motorstorm too....typical

Does anyone know how these sorts of credits work with returns? I might want to pick up one title for me and another as an early b-day or holiday gift, but worried the recipient might end up getting it for himself between now and then. The credit is issued once the titles are shipped, correct? Can they retroactively pull the credit if I need to make a return on one?

Also, it was mentioned in the original post, but for those who just skimmed it be aware that the $40 credit expires on 12/31. Not a big deal for the 'hardcore' gamer but it's worth mentioning.

Where does it say that the order qualifies for the $40 future credit. I dont see it during the cart/checkout process.

Shelbyman said: Where does it say that the order qualifies for the $40 future credit. I dont see it during the cart/checkout process.

It won't show in the cart... Just make sure you purchase two games from the qualified list (or confirm it shows on the item page "qualifies for spend 80 get 40") and make sure the seller is Amazon. You'll get your code in less than a week.

Shelbyman said: Where does it say that the order qualifies for the $40 future credit. I dont see it during the cart/checkout process.

It's not noted on the checkout page. The deal is noted on the games that qualify. if your game qualifies, you'll see the offer on the page for the game you want to buy; also note this is only good for games sold by Amazon - some games had the offer on their sale page but were sold by another vendor. I took screenshots of the pages for the two games I bought.

Oops! PhDeez beat me.

Thanks! I was thinking I was missing something. I was sure that I was at the correct offer and Amazon as the seller. Just wanted to make sure.

Cancel your COD pre-order. Do another COD pre-order and use the $40 coupon

Ummm, no?

The deals are comparable, but advantages to each deal have been pointed out. For someone like me who has a PS3 and doesn't really have any games and has been wanting to stock up on a dozen games or so, the Best Buy deal is much better, as long as I piece the items together smartly.

On paper the deals look the same, but remember the Amazon card Cash Back (which can sometimes be doubled) and also that Amazon sells some games for less than best buy. Uncharted 2 is 59.99 at BB and 54.99 at Amazon. Borderlands is 59.99 at BB and 53.99 at Amazon. And so on.

Granted this might 'hurt' you if your particular configuration of desired games is a buck short.

Now they have 5 off 50 on the gift card. Go ahead to buy a gift card and you can save extra $5

This offer appears to be targeted as I'm looking at the gift card main page http://www.amazon.com/gp/gc/ref=g_gc-gc_dp_redirect and no mention is made of the offer. Also, I didn't get the email from Amazon.
