I use these kind of drives strictly for temporary data like disk image backups and ISO file storage (and I burn the ISO as soon as I get a chance). I'm not saying this is a bad drive, but I Googled it and saw that recent Newegg buyers have had issues with this drive. So I would not trust this drive as my only data backup device.
Edit: I said this assuming the drive was 2.5" as OP stated. It appears to be a 3.5" drive in the enclosure.

I've got a Samsung 3.5" desktop drive here in front of me and it measures 1.0"H x 4.0"W x 5.75"D, so the 1.5"H x 5"W x 8.25"D kind of tells me it has a 3.5" desktop drive in it, and it's not that portable to me. Has anybody bought one that can tell us for sure?
Its a good find for the price. Be aware that it includes a USB Y cable for pulling power from 2 USB ports - yes it will use 2 ports at the same time. Data transfer rate for this drive is 60MBps as compared to similar portable drives that have upto 480MBps.

Really think twice about this drive, my 1 TB SimpleTech went bad after 45 days, just after I could return it. My friends went bad after 4 months. Sure there is a warranty, but I can't get my data of this drive, it will let me delete it, but most files won't copy without getting an I/O error.
To me, I don't care about the warranty as much as the data, luckily I keep all pics on 2 different drives, but all my other files are basically hosed.
I cannot imagine powering a desktop drive from two USB ports on your laptop (or desktop). Most 3.5" drives require +12V at 0.5A or 0.6A and +5V at 0.5A. I can only assume that this drive will be require all the DC current your laptop or desktop can provide (1.0A or more). To me 1.0A DC current through the ICH chip (input/output controller hub) for an extended period of time (i.e., time outside the design tolerance) can lead to premature motherboard failure. I recommend using 3.5" drives only in a self powered enclosure (i.e., one that uses a built-in or external power supply).
I bought this two days ago when it was 89 came down to 71 after coupon and tax. It is 2.5 inch pocket drive, I just compared the item number from my order details with this one.

I've had a Simpletech go bad on me in the past & made my data irretrievable. I will give the OP props for finding the deal. Just not props for the simpletech products.
I don't need YMMV when it comes to my data.

I picked up a handful of these from Omax a few months back (I had a coupon good for 50% back in rewards up to $600). I took them out of their shell's and have them running in my htpc in one of these in a RAID 5 array. No problems yet... (knock on wood). Mine were SATA's inside & if memory serves correctly I think they were Hitachi drives.
So simple - if it is 3.5" - I will simply return it. My loss is only $1.48 on the $25 coupon from you know where. If it is a 500GB , then it goes into my new Acer 1810T and I am all set...

If anyone took advantage of the RAIDON/750gb/500gb combo special at the egg earlier in the week, 2 of these out of their enclosures could work well with that RAIDON enclosure too.
Obviously, Staples and Simpletech people are morons, trust Amazon and Newegg's specifications instead. You would think the manufactur would know their own specs. I just got the drive and it is a 2.5" drive. The measurements are 3 1/8" W x 4 3/4" L x 3/4" H.
