hmm, can anyone offer confirms at any chains besides Genuardi's on Sears deal?
I bought 22 $25 & $50 gift cards yesterday at Vons. The $10 grocery coupon says only 1 can be used per transaction per day. I wonder if I can use more than one a day or if they keep track of how many you use by your clubcard, if so I'm screwed because I have 22 of them and they expire in like 10 days.
When I went to use the gift cards at Sears to buy my TV it wouldnt let the guy put more then 15 in the system so I had to consolidate my gift cards by buying gift cards. All together I spent about 3 hours to save $220. Not bad. I'll be spending more time trying to use them since you cant use more than one at a time. I'll try using 2 tonight in seperate transactions and let everyone know how it goes.
See if you can buy a Vons GiftCard with the coupons. The usual knee-jerk reaction is for them to say no. I am usually able to sweet-talk the manager into accepting my point of view that the money will still be spent at their store, so what's the harm? Besides, if you have $220 worth of (or any other large amount) certificates, impress upon them that it obviously means you are one of their better customers. Chances are, they will agree. Good luck!

I wouldn't be concerned. One per transaction multiple times per day should not be an issue. As noted earlier in the thread, the easiest way to avoid this problem is to just roll them into your next Gift Card purchase and pay $65 for $75 of Gift Cards. That way you're not walking around with $220 of coupons...lol.
Yeah I tried to use a coupon to buy a gift card but the cashier asked the manger and he told him I couldnt because it says on the coupon (good on your next grocery purchase). I guess to them grocery means food.

If you have another safeway in your area, just try a different store if you get hassled. Also, check the sales, if you're going to have to purchase groceries with the $220, maximize your value with sales prices, coupons, etc. Many safeway have full service take out too (pizzas, chicken, sandwiches, deli, etc) so you can also use these to buy dinner for the family a few nights.
Confirmed in Phoenix, AZ. Not advertised in the weekly flyer, but in store they had signs up near several of the gift card displays at the registers. Coupons didn't end up printing on the receipt, but customer service rep was very helpful and gave me the $10 back in cash Only got three sets, probably should have gotten more....

If it's a manufacturer cat as opposed to a store cat, other markets are likely to accept them. Also, self-checkouts are your friends, as are younger cashiers, specially male.

can't buy gift cards at self c/o's though. only works for the groceries.
Ok I was able to use more than the one coupon a day even using my club card both times. I just had to go through the line twice. My wife and I both took carts in and once we filled the one with $10 in food I went to check out while she filled the other with $10. We shop at Vons anyways and use coupons to save even more. So all in all this was a super deal. Just took a little work but I saved $220 off my TV.

Went to a different store today, same problem. This time they gave me a $10 safeway GC. I'm starting to think this deal might actually be easier when its not working right. So far I've gotten a $10 claim check (used to buy more cards), $20 cash, and a $10 safeway GC (which will likely be used to buy more cards). Had to Google "Catalina Machine", that may be the problem. I'm not sure our Safeways actually have those machines. I know I've seen them at some of our other stores. I'll have to look when I go back for more.
