What is the cost of a jackhammer to get through he perma frost ?

my mom loves her garden & is always buying new/different bulbs for new areas...anyone know if these can still be planted this year (boston area), and if not, can bulbs be stored for a year till planting next?

When the bulbs arrive. Bulbs should be planted as soon as the ground is cool. In most parts of the country, this would be around the time of the first frosts, when evening temperatures average between 40° to 50° F. But you should plant at least six weeks before the ground freezes. You can, if necessary, store bulbs for a month or longer, if you keep them in a cool dry place. When in doubt, however, the bulbs belong in the ground. They won’t last till next season.

oh well, since we're supposed to get snow this weekend, that would be a big 'no'

thanks cluster!

The bulbs they listed will over-winter in a dark cool space until planting in the spring. They need winter to bloom though. Florists will force them by putting in the refrigerator for a few weeks to get them to bloom indoors for early spring flowers - then you can plant them in the yard. Looks like a good deal for places with winter.

Nice info, I have some left so I'm going to try chilling them for blooming over winter....I can save money on my anti-depresents then.
