Aluminum water bottles always have a plastic liner. Some big name aluminum bottle companies have been busted for using suspicious chemicals in their plastic liners. Who knows what these generic no-name bottles are made from?

I would stay away from these. If aluminum bottles are not lined properly you can get aluminum poisoning. Much worse than the tiny amounts of BPA that are found in Sigg bottle liners. Better yet, spend a few extra bucks and get a stainless steel bottle.

I dont think you can get poisoned from aluminum water bottle, first, aluminum is not soluable in water, and most importantly, aluminum is very active so it will form a protective oxidation layer as soon as it exposed to the air, which itself is not soluable and very chemically stable.
Aluminum poisoning is usually from other sources, for example, some antiperspirants containing aluminum compounds.
lining material here is more relevent, like if BPA is used.
All of them are pretty safe as long as you're not using them for long-term storage or putting really hot liquids in them. "Non-BPA" favors marketing at the moment, so as a FWer I will happily continue to buy traditional Nalgene bottles at their newly discounted prices
