Nice find. The 42" Sharp LCD for under $500 isn't too shabby either.

the ad says min. 10 per store, does WalMart ususally have more than 10 and they just put 10 to get you there quicker? Our local WalMart just converted to a Super WalMart so hopefully they will have more than 10 there. Not sure if I ready for the Christmas rush just yet LOL.
good find. not impressed with the processor though. I wonder how smooth it will work with Windows 7!!

For 300 the price is right, but i am going to hold off for now...
Really price is dirt cheap not even QVC, HSN or ShopNBC can even come this low. Still the other features can be added on except the dual core unless the CPU was removable.
This is tempting. I'd like to pick up two for my kids to replace their circa-2002 iMacs. But they're only 4 and 7, so I can't really justify it right now. Maybe in another year or so. The iMacs work fine but are ridiculously slow running any flash-based web content. I'm getting tired of the complaints.

OK. BTW, what is the FW prize for advising of a repost?

Can I say "Hell NO" to Celery??? And the same for Semprons (still better than celery) too. Calling a celeron lappy "entertainment" should be a crime!! 300 is still a good price and so no red for OP, but Celery+windows=Diarrhea!

Lack of power is not the only knock against Celeron's. Classically they have always been poorer in power saving features giving them a worse overall 'power per watt' rating. The max TDW of this CPU in particular is 35W which is ok, but there is no indicator of what its idle TDW will be except that the general rule of thumb is that Centrino's idle is typically more green and miserly because they have enhanced speedstep and Celeron's do not. But unless you have one and can plug it into some Watt's up meter or someone did this on the internet for you, this is just generalizations, but a potential negative nonetheless.

SD shirt.
SD?
I would rather have a shirt from got apex If not a FW shirt.
I'd much rather have a 2.2Ghz single-core Celeron than the AMD Athlon X2 L310 1.2GHz that's making all the rounds lately in the $350-500 range laptops. Talk about an underpowered chip from yesteryear, 1.2Ghz!
I do not know that much about computers, but my 1st lappie was (and still is) a celeron and it is fine for surfing and emailing even though it is 6 years old.
Can this purchase be made after midnight for stores that are 24 hours?

Someone correct me here if I am wrong, but haven't the CPU makers been working their hardest to bring the clock speed DOWN and still INCREASE performance? While there is more to the "nitty gritty" equation, lower clock speed = longer battery life.

While there is more to the "nitty gritty" equation, lower clock speed = longer battery life. That could certainly be the case, I don't really follow the industry developments.
I'm temporarily using a brand new Acer with the 1.2Ghz Athlon chip and it struggles at times when my 3-year old Compaq T2080 1.73Ghz handled fine (ex, >15 tabs open in firefox). The Compaq did have terrible battery life however (4-cell though). Not sure how the Celeron would hold up, I know it's never apples-to-apples, but I'd stay away from the low-end Athlon chip.

Thank for the heads up. OP. Happy hunting, y'all!
The ad says 8 am, unlike others that have just have the date. In my exp, those were available at 12:01 am the date the ad started.
