Thanks OP... I might just buy 3 or 4 pairs just because I don't know what size to buy. REI is great about returns. When you say "a size to small" do you mean one full size or one half size?

I like to wear hiking socks - ! - or boot socks - am dead 12.5 - usually wear 13 - found a 14 to be my size for Off Chutes! good luck!
btw - winter boots should be on a larger side for better warmth & comfort!
I have a pair of chillkats from a few years back. They're about half a size too big for my feet but still great to wear. They're extremely warm! I've used them countless times on fishing trips and they perform very well. This is a pretty tempting deal though! I might consider getting a pair of these (half a size down from the chillkats) just to see how they are. Guess it wouldn't hurt cause of REI's awesome return policy
if you are buying the boots to run for a newspaper every morning - snug fit will work (?!?) - but to go fishing or a few hours hike - would highly recommend to get 1/2 size bigger boots - ! - or taking your boots off will become the happiest moment/s of your life!

Thanks OP! I already have a decent pair of no-lace North Face boots that I use for quickly slipping on/off for the quick errands/tasks outside and was planning on picking up another pair that lace-up for the winter.

So if anyone in the Philly area sees my post here, and also happens to get sold out of their size (of 12, 13, or 14), shoot me a message, and I'll help ya if I can.

Average weight 3 lbs. 9 oz. saw that but cant really guage, does it feel heavy?
Heavy depends a lot on what you are going to be doing. You can weigh your current winter boots and compare. Compared to sneakers, these are going to be double the weight, but this type of boot is not intended for athletic uses like running.
The Hi-Tec winter hiking boots mentioned earlier do weigh more than a pound less. The general rule for hiking boots is that an extra pound in your shoes feels like 5 pounds on your back.

How comfortable are these for work? If it's a snowy day, would they still be okay after 8+ hours in an office?
Received my boots today in balmy 70 degrees New York. I am a size 13 and I ordered size 14's and they appear to fit fine. I'm sure I'll get some use out of these within the month.
