I have to disagree. Parts of BTS actually detracted from the game for me. A Capitulated enemy can still sabotage your cities. Even if you catch them, you can't declare war on them and wipe them out. Seriously sucks.
Civ 4 with the Warlords expansion pack is a steal at $15 shipped.
Thanks OP. If you buy $75+ you can get free shipping with promo code MADNESS.
There are tons of great older games to choose from if you haven't been following gaming for a while (like me). I got three games for less than the cost of one of today's new releases.
For example: Rome Total War Gold (I) for PC Product ID: 5640266 Item Price: $9.90 --------------------------------------------------------- Civilization 4: Complete (I) for PC Product ID: 28937996 Item Price: $11.90 --------------------------------------------------------- Age of Mythology: Gold Edition for PC (I) Product ID: 4759093 Item Price: $9.90
Civilization IV Complete does include BTS. Just look at Amazon or every other retailer that carries it. As far as I know there is only one "complete" set, and that includes both expansions. Civ IV "Gold" includes only one expansion pack. I think they are mistakenly using the gold description to describe the complete edition.
I found a better picture of the box, and it appears that this does include both expansions, Warlords and Beyond the Sword.

Vassals will no longer run spy missions against their master.
Be aware that there are two versions of "The Complete Edition", the one shown here and the one that is DRM free (box has a red stripe on top). The DRM free version has always been a tad more to get it. I found mine about a month ago for $25 brand new on eBay. I can't figure out how to attach pictures, but you can see the box design at Amazo n. I bought the DRM free version and there is no need to be swapping disks.
The back of the box says: "DRM free: the complete civ IV experience with no Digital Rights Management limitations".
We are still getting the hang of it, but enjoying it nonetheless. My son using his DS "graduated" from LEGO Battles, to Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, and now asked me to let him play on the PC.

Very cool, thanks for the update. I actually stopped playing with that expansion pack because of it.

Still a good deal if DRM does not bother you.
The red stripe is on the "final" Civilization IV Complete package. That one includes Civ 4, Civ 4 Warlords, Civ4 Beyond the Sword, and Civ 4 Colonization. That package was on sale last week at Best Buy for $29.00; I picked it up for $24.99 after Reward Bucks.
