That post is for all deals, just like yours. Nothing stops anyone from discussing anything. XBox is discussed there in addition to other deals.

Sorry, this is a repost and deserves a lock.

Well, I hope someone finds this helpful, since it was not listed in the other topic at the time...

I think we should talk more on how savvy Amazon is to whip up an exact clone of the WalMart special on short notice. You notice they are answering on every single item... funny!

The laptop specs sound like this Acer... similar to Wally's

I guess Competition is fierce this year. More good deals for us.
I got the xbox 360 from WalMart. I'll remember to check Amazon next time.

I just hope there is a good deal on a hd camecorder soon

Laptop appeared to sell out in under one minute. Dell Inspiron 1545

No kidding. I was waiting for the deal to appear and just took a moment to look at the specs. I was able to add to my cart but when I tried to check out I was notified that the laptop was no longer in stock. Oh well, off to Best Buy!

yeap Dell sold out within moments after starting.

I added it to my cart and it showed up as $299.99 but then was $599.99 at check out. I thought the old Gold box system let you have it if you clicked it before someone else.

Same here.

Was at the payment part of checkout, added my CC and then I got the error message about the item no longer being available at the $299 price.

Dirty rotten pukes!

Amazoned really should give a person a "heads up" prior to pulling a BOHICA on their customers!

I just got off the phone with Amazon. They said this has been happening all day with the gold box items. She said a bunch of people's orders are going through at the original price instead of the sale price. That made me wonder if what happened is that a bunch of people clicked on the item (instead of the "claim code" button) thinking they could still get the deal that way. Then they placed their orders using one-click or didn't pay attention to the price in their cart. All of these people would have then driven it out of inventory before those with the actual gold box coupon codes could be redeemed. She said this has never happened before with gold box items before today.

Funny, now people are leaving one star reviews for the laptop.

I was watching these Amazon lightning deals all day today...I don't know how much of a chance any of "us" had on any of it. I don't understand how a Sony DVD player that was only marked down $7 sold out so fast. Then a $500 television marked down only $30...and after the computer, $3 off a Blu-ray player??? This doesn't sound like "lightning deals" to me. I am wondering about my "prime" membership...$80 per year is a lot to spend to not even have a chance at even half of the products listed today.

I wonder if people had them in their baskets, placed a "1-click" order, then later tried to get the "sales price" adjustment from Amazon.

I emailed Amazon saturday and I actually got an email back from Amazon
regarding my "disappearing" gold box laptop deal
(and some song & dance about how they'll research the problem, blah, blah, blah).
I was somewhat surprised they even answered.

Saturday's shoppers depleted the gold box inventories pretty fast.

I took only enough time to enter a new CC number and click on, "submit order"

My cart had mysteriously become "empty" (with the laptop somehow finding it's way into someone else's basket, apparently)
