I'm between this and a comparable Asus U50A-RBBML05 for $630. Just can't seem to pull the trigger on either... probably because I'd really like it to be a bit bigger display wise. Argh. Good deal though.

I've been checking this computer out for a week now. The in store version is silver, and if this one that was on sale wasn't white, I would be in 100%.
jayrandom said:This was the model my wife liked best when we went window shopping. Anyone have any comments on this model? Thanks I have the VGN-240F which is the same exact laptop except it does not have Blu-ray. This is a really good computer. It runs relatively cool. The thing about this one that I find better than most other laptops is that it has the isolated keyboard, which gives it a really good feel, and textured touchpad. Also, one of the cool things is it has a "WEB" button, which allows you to launch a browser (based on Firefox) without booting up Windows. When I use it, I'm on the internet in about 8 seconds.
I need a bluray player for an lg 47lh90 tv, and been debating over ps3 vs standalone player..interesting idea to pick up a nice second/third laptop and use it as my primary blu ray output to the big screen (47"), just want to verify that there is no problem with this idea? what is the video card issue?

CORRECTION: Spec sheet I just pulled on Sony's website states it is capable of displaying 1920x1080 through HDMI, so I guess Full HD is possible.

The screen resolution is: 1366 X 768 = max native of 720p 15.5" LCD widescreen display With 1366 x 768 resolution brings life to your movies and games It can display 1920 X 1080 but it will scale the signal.
Sony versus Asus? Aren't they essentially the same company. I like the Sony branding better but if it was me I'd look for a third option. Asus stuff tends to break.
