Decent price, but from what I read Cree >> Luxeon for power efficiency (ie lumen/watt), and in many (most?) cases for maximum output too.

True, but show me where I can get a similar light for $10 with a Cree.

Target has 50% cleareance on 3aa 3W mini mag for $11 if you can find one. Much smaller and has adjustable flood to spot and the head can be removed for candle mode.
