any idea what the gift card is for? Last year it was Amazon, and I essentially went to the bank, got 20 rolls of quarters, cashed 4 in at a time, and made $50.

it says "Choose from big name brands* like Amazon.com, iTunes, Lowe's, JCPenney and more – with absolutely NO FEE!"
that's $3.60 of your $40 which leaves you $6.40. by the time you put a stamp on your envelope, your $10.00 "benefit" is < $6.00.
still a free $6, but just something to keep in mind
EDIT: i stand corrected. the above is true if you want cash for your coins, but if you accept a gift certificate, you get the full value. considering your rebate will be a gift certificate, not a bad deal. link above also has a list of stores - not sure if that list will be the same of the ones available for the $10
This is great, like getting $10 for next to nothing...scrape together $40 of change, cash out as an Amazon code, get Christmas gifts, and $10 back. Thanks for the reminder OP.

If you follow bmobrien's idea, just take some cash to bank and get the change. Rinse and repeat!
Does it still work if you put the entire amount of coins towards a gift card. My pocket change is basically my itunes budget. I avoid the coinstar fees by getting an iTunes gift card when I turn in my coins. So if I turn in $40 in coins and get an iTunes gift card will I still be eligible for the additional $10?
do they just add the 10 value to the gift card that u chose when u change the coins, or do they give u a seperate 10 gift card for some other stores that they select?

Looks good to me. Rules say, "Obtain an official claim form when you convert in a single transaction at least 40 U.S. dollars (in coins only) into a gift card or eCertificate".

Very few actual gift cards, most are eCertificates.
Take $40 and turn it into an eCertificate or gift card and then put someone's name on the rebate form to receive your choice of the free gift. It is like giving a $10 gift to anyone you want for free. And if you only use each name once you can send multiple gifts to people.
I put relatives names and addresses on small rebates all the time when I do mulitple rebates for products I will purchase anyways. I tell them to just use the money when it comes.
Does anyone know if there is a fee for choosing the prepaid airtime as payment?
I really don't need any eCertificates but I could surely use something like a Lowes giftcard.
How accurate are the machines at counting change? I've only used the coinstar machine once before, and it seemed okay, but obviously I did not count out the change beforehand.

No repeats. Only one per name, address, or household.

postmarked by 1/6/09 and received by 1/13/09: That's last January, no?
Is there a phone number to call for this promo? I mailed mine in around 12/8 and nothing from them yet. It doesn't even show up on the status tracking site.
