Hmm, I'd figure that a refurbished model would have the capacitors or the power board replaced so I'm in for one. If anything goes wrong, just gotta crack it open and replace a few capacitors anyways...
I purchased one of these in November 2008 for my daughter to give to her as a Christmas present (bought through the Philips outlet website which is now out of business). Fortunately, I tested the set in my office for about a week after I received it. Just like the reviewers said on Amazon, the set would not turn on after a couple days. I returned it, got a refurb replacement (which was scratched up so bad it was not suitable for an Xmas present). That one didn't last a week either. Sent it back and got another. I finally gave up and bought another model at BestBuy a couple days before Xmas. Fortunately, Philips took their set back and refunded my money. Otherwise, I would have been out of $200. I suggest that everyone stay away from the Philips and Magnavox "badged" Philips 19 inch LCDs. In my opinion, they are not worth the bother even if they were giving them away.
