Stealing from myself at SD, great deal on a SSD. This is the newwest model from Kingston that uses the Intel controller. It's on sale today at Newegg as the AM Shell Shocker deal. $105 minus $20 MIR = $85 shipped. Limit one per customer, BUT the rebate form is limit two...so double up if you're in a gambling mood.

Great drive. +1 to OP. I have to wait 48 hours to reorder a second one from Newegg which is about 8 hours from now... They'll all be gone by then.
I installed it into an Acer Aspire 1410 (Intel SU2300 Dual-Core 1.2 GHz Celeron) which came with a WD Blue Scorpio 160GB 5400 RPM drive and the difference is like night & day. Here's some stats while I played with it:
But how are you planning to live with only 40 gigs in your new Acer AS1410? Kind of like a slick little sports car without room for luggage or the kids.

If you don't use it for media storage, 40GB should be plenty.
And if you do need media storage, you can always add an external USB 2.5" drive.

That's exactly what i thought. Win 7 costs 15G only, plus other necessary software, 25G will be enough for master hard drive.

Turning Hibernate Off, Pagefile Off (I upgraded it to 4GB of RAM) and System Restore Off, I got Windows 7 down to 9GB installed leaving me with about 30GB left. As long as I don't install Modern Warfare 2 or Dragon Age: Origins onto it... It should be fine for Office 2007 and other productivity apps

Cheers, Eemrek I would not recommend turning off your page file, especially with so little memory. Applications will often make allocations for large amounts of virtual address space and if you are multitasking, you can easily exceed 4GB. Furthermore, you will not be able to get dump files if you get a bugcheck. Also, don't forget servicing takes hard drive space due to the way SideBySide works.

yup even 40 gb is not enough for all the windows virus and the antivirus software fighting each other with you being the victim in the middle of it all
or.. just use ubuntu that installs and works great - like 4gb for os + openoffice + normal internet/graphics software and rest of the 36gb is enough for your pics and movies
