I think what you meant to say is that the mattress is not included, which is to be expected - I've never seen bedroom furniture sold with the mattress included (except maybe in some sort of package deal). Other pieces and entire sets are on sale as well, and the prices are better than Bob's Discount Furniture (probably better quality too).
BTW, that shipping includes "white glove" delivery, which means they set up the furniture and remove all the packing material for you. Not that it's a big deal, but it beats just dropping the boxes on your porch.
BTW2: When I first saw "metric" bed, I thought, "just what we need - a whole new set of mattress measurements".
