The glossy black exterior and perforated chrome accents are the first features you'll notice on the Inspiron 518. But press its illuminated power button, and you?ll quickly realize there's more to this system than meets the eye. With a 640GB Hard Drive, you'll never have to worry about running out of space, and the 6GB installed RAM means you'll always get top of the line performance.

Comes with:
Dell Inspiron 518 Desktop PC
Keyboard
Mouse
Power Cord

not sure if its eligible for free win7 upgrade.

Anyone have an opinion on this one?
I almost pulled the trigger on the Acer quad posted earlier. I am leaning more toward this one... uggh

Seems only lukewarm, based solely upon my keeping an eye on these types of deals. I could be wrong though.

the processor appears to be the Q6600, which is middle of the pack in terms of performance these days. Still plenty robust enough for most users, but nevertheless, it should be noted.

see this link for a hierarchy of processor performance:

Oh, yea. I just looked at that other deal for the Acer. It's a better deal than this one, no question. Better specs and it's new (unless I misread). A lot of people seem to despise onesaleaday, however.. not sure if it's warranted or not.

I wish they had placed CPU models. In comparison, the other CPU is faster. I found basically the website with CPU bechmarks but a little different link here, good call.

Not to good of a deal, you can get this and HP new for around this price.

No Windows 7 would make both the Acer and Dell non starters for me. It's everything Vista should have been and easy on resources. I just got the the Staples Compaq 2 weeks ago for $299 and am happily surprised how well it runs with 7. 500gb, 3gb RAM and 2.7 dual processor. Thought RAM might be tight but no issues multitasking whatsoever. Seems 7, especially 64, is much easier on RAM. Of course these are more computer but you'll want 7 and it does bring up the cost.

Oh, it is.

Not sure that other deal really is better. This has more ram, a similar speed cpu, a similar size hard drive, and a 3450 card with hdmi output.

Plus if you dont like it, its DOA or has a problem, Dell will pay to ship it back and will send you another one or give you a full credit. 1saleaday will ask you to pay to ship it back and refund your money, but you're out the shipping costs both ways.

Edit: nevermind, I see this isnt from Dell but some reseller. I dont think I'd buy a Dell refurb from a 3rd party. If it was a typical Dell refurb, they'd be selling it themselves. I've found Dell refurbs to be pretty good, hard to distinguish from a new machine. But these might be units turned over off of lease or salvage to some third party refurbisher who just tested it and replaced anything not functional.

Q6600 might be old, but it supports virtualization for those who needs it, while the newer Q8x00 series dont.

Not entirely true...

So, Why is q6600 on amazon is $345 compared to one of the top of line Q9400 on amazon for $190

Discontinued products are often priced high by third party sellers for various reasons.

An okay price if dealt with Dell directly since they cover you if you have issues or want to return. Third party indicator here. I'd suggest passing.
