Info: The 2 TB Deskstar™ 7K2000 Serial ATA Internal Hard Drive from Hitachi features robust mechanical design that sets for high quality and reliability. It offers patented ramp load/unload design that allows data heads to move away from the disk thereby minimizing the risk of shock damage between the heads and disks. Additionally, this hard drive incorporates thermal fly-height control (TFC) technology that maintains a constant fly-height throughout read and writes operations to enhance overall data integrity, drive performance and reliability. Moreover, its power-saving innovations like HiVERT™ technology delivers efficient power management and thermal emissions to meet energy compliance targets and extend drive life.
anyone who bought this in the previous deals had any issue with it not showing up as 2tb? Trying to get help from hitachi themselves and Dell but Dell would not help me since i dont own a Dell pc. and hitachi said they were going to send me a link to some software but never did. Seems like no one is responding to the issue and I dont want to get charge if there is not a problem when i return it for warranty repair.

what do you mean by not showing up as 2TB? Are you meaning the whole binary vs decimal value thing that some people dont seem to realize and complain hey, my XXXGB drive doesnt show exactly XXXGB worth of space......or do you know better and it is legitamently missing capacity?

No I know by what you mean on the why it is not showing 2tb when its 2tb. But this is different its no where near 2tb only showing up as 900+gb I dont think the whole binary thing is that much of a difference. I would of thought it would show up like maybe 1.7tb but its not so I guess the drive think its a 1tb. trying to get help from Dell(which they will not help because i dont have a Dell pc they cant help me) and if i return and nothing is wrong they charge me restocking fee. I called hitachi and they said they were going to send me this software which they never did and I tried some software on their website and it still doesnt change the 1tb value. just my luck. might need to do a warranty exchange and hopefully its the hdd at fault.
No will workee. Discover click thru is to Dell home. The drive is $169.xx there. The Small Business Dell has it for $144.xx, but Discover won't get you there. Unless someone has a trick ???

I believe you have to add them to your cart through the $144.99 link, then log back in through the Discover link to get this to work.
I contemplated doing it for a pair, but the fact that I've got a year-plus-long Dell boycott won out over my desire for 2TB of RAID1 storage.
Looks like fastest SATA performance on a MacPro? Was just about to buy 2 for $169.99 from frys.com, glad I saw this thread! Fry's and Newegg list as: HD32000IDK7. Dell is 0S00164, not sure what that means. Official specs.
Well, since im stuck with this drive for a while maybe it will read differently if I get like an enclosure.
Anyone know a enclosure that handles 2tb? Once thing I heard talked about this drive that it does run hot. Went up to 50degree C when I was trying to figure y it would not see full capacity.

Thanks OP, I did the saved cart/Discover thing. Hope it works ?
All you folks with the horror stories about this drive, and you all with the Terabyte drive deals for under $50, you can come out now, I got my email confirmation
d3a1ninja said: $80 x 2 = $160 Well sure, 2TB drives aren't at the best $/GB yet. The point of 2TB drives isn't getting the most data for the least $, it's getting the most data into a single drive. If you have 10TB of videos, would you rather have 20 1TB drives hooked up to your machine, or 10 2TB drives?
We can make alternate configuration comparisons all day long. But that has little to do with getting a good price on 2TB drives.
Popped this puppy into my EX485 and it's definitly running hot compared to my other drives. I see readings of 92 to 96.8F compared to 82-85 for my other drives and a very nice LOW of 67-72 for my 1 TB Samsung. This Hitachi drive is in the top bay, by the way. I may try moving it just to see if it makes a difference, but if this is going to put out heat, I'm thinking a lower bay is gonna cause the rest of the case to heat up more??
Just got one today and put it in my HTPC, runs great and really quiet. I thought it was OEM but turns out it's a retail. With this $30 MIR, I couldn't resist but to order another one. 2TB for $114.99 + free shipping + 5% Bing CashBack is a no brainer to me.

What is the warranty on these drives. It does not say in the Dell website
Well, Bing says I'm SOL, becasue they can't find a tracking ticket for this purchase, despite the fact that I followed the click-through links, and have cookies enabled. Bing sucks.
