Of the two feature-equivalent VTech and Uniden DECT 6.0 sets I got last year during Holiday sales, the VTech was superior...particularly in sound quality.
The only way to know is to either try them or read the reviews.
I purchased this set 3 months ago, I found the sound and build quality pretty good. I don't use the answering machine feature so I can't comment on that. Good deal.

in for 1 set! Vtech phones seem to vary in quality but this has gotten pretty good reviews from what I have seen. If you read the Woot blog there are some useful links for reviews & features. There is no way I am going black friday shopping for a deal on phones if I can woot it instead!
