Any idea if this is actually a good deal or if we can expect a better drop? Isn't the contrast a little low on that one? I'm considering getting ths one for games.

Unless you're getting a better CB rate it's a good deal for this monitor. I paid much more for it earlier this year.
I haven't found contrast to be a problem. I'm not fond of the color reproduction for graphics work but it should be fine for games.
I have this monitor...got it for a similar price with the rebate and I must say it s beautiful. The only thing is it doesn't really have a height adjustable mount. Rebate was pretty fast too....
