In for 2 as great gifts. I've had a Timex Ironman since 1988. It has been scuba diving to 35m, above 12000 feet and is my timer for daily 5 mile run. Hardly a problem. Watch has died twice and Timex replaced it FREE w/o any questions?
Ironman watches are kind of dorky looking if you aren't running or swimming, but they do work well for sports use. 1 inch size is probably a women's model. Never heard of LCD causing skin irritation. LCD is the norm for sports watches. $16 is a great price if this fits you.

Oh-ho-ho! Is funny because you cannot swim "in" a watch! Read the original post with the <humor> tag on.
