Any thoughts on how this does with photos on photo paper? been looking for a color laser with auto duplex that prints nice photos so I can ditch the inkjet.

Mike

Photos? No. Glossy, maybe, but not photo quality - probably only 50lb maximum paper weight. Also, color lasers, in my experience, will degrade quite a bit over their life in photo quality. Still, with heavy glossy paper they may great coupon printers!

Keep the inkjet, or drop the dough on a dye sub. Otherwise just send 'em to a local processor.

Utter nonsense.
Replace the drum and good as new (although that cost is nearly the same as a new printer for many models/brands)
I have had the 3100cn for years and it prints the same as always.
Just purchased an HP CP2025dn for ~250 AC, printer trade in, and ink cartridge rebate at Staples. While the HP output is superior the software of the Dell is superior and the toner cheaper.

Glossy paper simply not needed but you should use a quality laser paper.

what 20% coupon is out there? didnt get anything from Dell's weekly email.

I have this printer. IMHO the photo output isnt the greatest. I had phaser 8550 which uses the color ink blocks. Much better images but more costly to operate for ink/drums etc. Many inkets do a far superior job on photos. The lasers tend to blow drums often if you run 100% coverage on lots of images. A good inkjet with continuos ink is probably better if you run alot of photos

He's not talking about the printer, he's talking about the prints. Laser is not a good choice for photos and that's an established fact. There's a reason pretty much every photographer out there uses inkjet if printing at home.

Dead?

I think so, as I see the same price but without the duplexer ($150 add-on).
