worth a shot, nothing to lose...if you get it then it's icing on the cake...

To be safe you can just go for the 6%FC

is this a real hot deal on $520 laptop, i'm looking for a laptop in this range. Does it have hdmi? Any reason I shouldn't pull the trigger ( better deals coming soon?) don't know much bout laptops but would like the best one possible for $500 range

If you intend to play games on a laptop, you can't do better for this price (more serious games should definitely select the video card upgrade option to the 240M).

If you're looking just to web surf and word process, you could probably save some dough looking for laptop bargains that have integrated graphics.

Either way, this is an incredible deal for the specs, and a second chance for those who missed out on the coupon earlier in the week. Nice find, OP!

thanks, I was just hoping some FW'ers can get on the deal b4 SD gets them all

can someone confirm the hdmi? i'll pull the trigger, but it doesn't confirm it in the specs

I don't think it has HDMI, and I don't have it listed in the OP...

Seriously, this is such a sweet deal. I would so pull the trigger, but I can't justify having three laptops lol.

I can't get coupon to apply. I had tough time getting to the base config.

make sure you don't have any spaces in the coupon code

No spaces. I had 3 GB memory, then tried 4 GB just in case unadjusted total needed to be higher. Still no go.

Edit: Had to start with OP's Config link. Now code works!

FINALLY got me one of these! Thanks!

same deal as couple days ago. bing CB and FW CB will not work due to coupon. I know discover 5% work for sure.

this review claims it has hdmi, not sure http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/laptops/Lenovo-ideapad-y550/10461.html

Does it have a wirless card slot ? PC card or express card? Not able to see it in the config.

These are great computers, Lenovo are high quality stuff and they are also reliable.

My son was looking to buy a new laptop and he asked me to keep an eye out for a good deal.

We just missed out a few days ago when the same deal was available. I've been watching closely since then for anything in his price range and hadn't found a better configuration. So, we were ready to jump on this and I'm glad I saw it early enough.

$888 Base Config
+110 P8700
+ 50 GT240m
- 20 Palmrest Color
- 40 320GB
-289 Coupon
----
$699

Nice powerful system for $699 plus tax.

Y550s have HDMI... I would guess that was universal and that no model would be missing it.
I replicated the config I got on 10/27, and the price was exactly the same. Do they still have free shipping?
Anyway, if you want a solid all-around laptop that can handle multi-media and gaming, then this is the best deal out right now in my opinion. Only real minuses are hard drive speed and resolution, but I am fine with both as a trade for the price.

Thanks OP. I was disappointed that I missed out on this deal last week. Ordered today.

extra 110 worth to upgrade to p8700?? just wanna see what the general consensus is. thanks

Just ordered one and paid with my discover card. How do I get the 5% back? If not, can I switch the payment back to penfed?

I think you have to link from discover's website (shopdiscover.com)

the coupon does not work for me. any tricky?

missed it

Was weighing different options on this all morning. About to pull the trigger, when the deal was suddenly dead. FML.

Coupon did not work for us.

Update: Coupon Expired

this thing weights 6lbs with battery or w/o battery? waiting patiently for a smaller/lighter laptop deal

dang missed it again, 3rd time. guess its not meant to beeeeeeeeeeee.

I am trying to order one? What is OP's link? For me coupon is not working..Can you please help me?

For me the coupon is not working? Can you explain me from where and how you used the COUPON USPY550DEAL ? I entered spaces and also tried using fatwallet config link?

So much for the Email alert from Fatwallet. For some reason I only received alerts for other models, but not this one, although my alert was set for Lenovo. This was the deal I was looking for. Anyone know why the alert did not work?

I've noticed recently, that my alerts are lagging way behind.

dunno much about computers but can i upgrade the processor later if i wanted to?

Damm for some reasons I had to resubmit my order 5 times because it gave me an error that the order did not go through and asked me to check my order and try again. However, now I got 5 confirmations from Lenovo for 5 laptops. I guess I need to call them to cancel 4 of those orders.

same thing happened to me actually.

Not to threadcrap, the battery in my 2-year old 3000 N100 (from a previous FW deal) went bad about a year ago. I almost never run it on battery alone but when I do, it lasts about 15 minutes.
For myself, Lenovo is a no go.

It's normal for a laptop battery to die after 1 year. That's really its life span. If you keep your battery plugged in the whole time it's not good for it. It's best to get it fully charged, and then unplug it from the laptop so it doesn't continually get bombarded with electricity. Of course no one really does that because it's a pain in the ass to have to plug the battery in each time you want to unplug it from the wall.

"Coupon not valid for current shopping cart."

hence "expired deals"...I know the placeholder makes it look like it is still in "hot deals", but alas it has "expired".
