has anyone found any info on how easy it is to upgrade these? i.e. the 1TB option is $150. can I just get one separately and pop it in? What about memory?

Are you using explorer?
yup IE 8, just tried it on another laptop with XP and ie 7, same thing. Same thing with chrome, same thing with different e-mail addresses. somethings up on their end.
Would I need to upgrade the Sound Card to the "Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio - Software Enabled" for an additional $25 in order to have true 5.1 over HDMI?
The default audio configuration states: "Built in 2.1 high-definition audio"

"Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio" is SOFTWARE only, there's no extra hardware for Hi Def Audio decoding. don't be suckered into this crap. better download the latest audio driver from audio chip manufacturer website and ati catalyst drivers to enable hdmi audio, I don't know if this can do 5.1 over HDMI, but I surely can guarantee that "Soundblaster X-Fi Hi Def Audio" is nothing but software enhancement.
Shouldn't you give credit to SlickDeals for posting this first? It's a pretty random deal to find on your own.

I think they might be pulling this deal. There was a screen that said the $60 gift card was for Windows Vista not being compatible with Napster, but I can't find the screen now. If you order with Windows 7 you might not be getting the $60 gift card.
Answers to most of your questions regarding 5.1 on HDMI and the differences between the cpu and gpu can be found on at avs here Great price and just placed an order for one. Thanks OP.

Shouldn't we not care? (I post in both places; it's just not that important)
Update: now I can't cancel the order, even though I had the gift card, then when I got my email and checked the config it was gone. It's "in process" (but not going to be delivered for three weeks?) so it "can't be canceled. A manager is supposed to call me back w/i 4 hours...we'll see. Looks like a CC dispute in my future.
Picked one up last night. Probably should have upgraded the video card and RAM, but cheaped out. Ah well, I can probably pick up a cheapish stand-alone video card with the $60 gift card, I'm sure.
CRAP! Looks like my order did not go through, it does not show up anywhere. Oh well, time for an e-mail to my Dell guy.

Looks like it's gone now - deal is dead.
