I think it's only if you install them. No discount if you just want to buy them to store to install later.

Pretty good deal if you want to have everything done in one place for convenience sake.
But even with the discount, you're still going to most likely get a better overall deal by buying on TireRack and having them ship directly to an independent shop for install. You even get FatWallet CashBack through TireRack too.
Im looking for tires for my Nissan Xterra, and I was wondering if getting them from Costco would be the cheapest since they can install for free and also provide lifetime tire rotation services.

I printed out the page from TireRack and they always did. They did add in the shipping cost to the price but even then it was still the same out of pocket for me.

From Costco's website:
Costco said: The tire price does not reflect an Installation Package charge of $14.00 per tire (plus disposal fee), which will be added at the time of check out. Shipping and handling is included in the price of the tire.

Don't forget...if you price match Tire Rack at Discount Tire, they include Lifetime Balancing and Rotation. That can add up over the life of the tires.
Anyone purchase from their online company? The same deal exists at http://www.discounttiredirect.com/blackFriday.html but no installation included. If you purchase wheels with tires, they'll mount and spin balance for you before they ship--all you have to do is bolt them on. I'm willing to spend the time to rotate and bolt on the wheels myself if I can save $87 doing so.
When purchasing a set of Hankook iPike W409s with Unique 297 wheels, the total is $570 with Discount Tire Direct (no tax with free shipping) vs $657 with my Local Discount Tire shop (inludes taxes and installation fees) for a difference of $87.
The extra $87 buys convenience (they install for me), life-time spin balancing (unsure if necessary), and valve stem replacement (again, unsure if necessary)).
My main concern is hassle of shipping such large items via UPS. Add to the fact if there is a problem with the tires, I'll have to remove them myself and ship them back rather than bring them back to the store (without incurring additional costs since I didn't purchase the tires and wheels through the local store).
Anyone else buy from Discount Tire Direct before? Know where to look for reviews from previous customers?

I was told by a discouttire employee that the promotion is not stackable on the $70 or $50 promotion for Michellin et al
since it said " can not be combined with other promotion"
Discount Tire Direct is having the same promotion. It is a better deal to buy there w/ the Bing CB and NO sales tax...free shipping as well and installation costs are the same as at DT.

I'm not seeing any Bing CB on my search...still active for anyone else?

The 2nd offer is valuable for those of us who don't have a B&M Discount Tire location nearby or want to make their own arrangements for installation.".

You can buy from DTD and take them to DT and have installed. Installation price is the same at ~$20/tire and it includes lifetime rotation and balance. Buying from DTD saves you tax and you can get Cash Back. It really is a no-brainer. I have done this several times with no issues...

I purchase tires online all the time. Either from Discount Tires Direct or Tire Rack. I do have the advantage of knowing people who can mount and balance for me but I have never had issues with the tires. I would say if they arrive and everything looks good, you should be perfectly fine.
Also, just in case you guys don't know, Discount Tires repairs flats for free. Or at least mine does.

As I stated before, not everyone has a Discount Tire location conveniently located nearby. discounttiredirect.com also has no tax, free shipping & 5% bing. Some people rotate their own tires. I do because I usually get a blank stare when I ask the tire store guy if they use a torque wrench to properly tighten the lug nuts.

Do you balance your own tires as well?

Thanks OP! I happened to order tires this past Friday and was about to call and schedule an installation for tomorrow when I saw your post. I called DT and asked if they would honor the price when I came in tomorrow. They will - no hassle! Easiest $50 I ever saved.

Both DTD and DT spin balance off the car, at least, my local DT does. When I last when to DT, they spin balanced the tires and wheels on a machine. DTD says if I purchase tires and wheels from them, they will spin balance at their warehouse before they ship to me. Of course, you trade off lifetime spin balancing if you ever notice a change in how the wheel "rides".
I'm thinking I'll just have my local DT price match the DTD total costs (i.e., including the benefits of no tax). I've been reading around other forums that this is YMMV, but you gotta try.

Damn, local DT won't match online "Out the door" price, they're still charging me taxes.
However, if anyone else is shopping for wheels+tires, maybe buy from both. I'm going to try tonight to purchase the tires from DTD, purchase wheels from DT, schedule an install date 2 weeks ahead (allowing tires to arrive via UPS), and have DT mount tires and install wheels for me.
This way, I get life-time spin balancing (no rotating, but I can do that myself). Will report on my tests later tonight when the $50 BF deals are valid...

Do most of you have problems with tires that need to be re-balanced? After initial balancing I've never had a need to on my last 5 vehicles.

Sometimes you do need to re-balance. Second hand, I've heard some people had to rebalance when they hit a pot hole. Of course, their wheels were balanced using clip-on weights. I too have never had to rebalance my wheels in over 5 years on my current truck.

Tires purchased from DTD and installed at DT include lifetime balancing. Same applies to wheel/tire combos purchased from DTD. Just go into DT, tell them you purchased online since no store was around and they will take care of your rotation and balance. At least this has always been the case for me.
