They've had this deal going for a long time. I've purchased quite a few of these, as they keep updating the rebate form. Mail in rebate has been reliable but slow. Rebate customer service when contacting them has been outstanding. EDIT: Oh yeah, I've purchased 4 of these. All work very well, though I'm not using near 500W.
Do not buy this power supply, except for spare parts to repair a good power supply. The Newegg photo of the label shows no UL or CSA registration number, and that's always a very, very bad sign. The $30 Antec 380W Earthwatts mentioned here by ThinWalletFatDeals is a much better bargain, and I'm almost certain it can put out more power than the Apevia, despite being rated for 120W less. When a power supply goes bad, it can damage your hardware, including your hard drive.
Boy they are really trying to move these - the 420w model is $10 AR... Gotta wonder why so low though. What is it gonna be $5 next, FAR?

Note the following on the spec tab: Approvals UL, TUV, CE Looks like previous post was incorrect.

Not really.....it doesn't matter what Newegg puts in their specs blurb. The proof is that there is NO UL certification on the power supply's label, which is where it counts...on the actual power supply, not on a spec page.

Its getting hammered but I was able to make purchase without much difficulty. Keep trying though.

Could this powersupply support THESE graphics?
http://www.Newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133266&cm_re=pny_geforce-_-14-133-266-_-Product "Minimum 450W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 24A)"
I'm guess no by looking at the power supply specs, I don't see any output that supports 24A anyway... I'm not sure how to really calculate it though.
I'm by no means an expert but if there are more than one 12V+ rails you need to look at both, but the tricky thing is it's not a simple addition but you want to look at the wattage for both/all rails combined if it is a multi-rail PS, and I understand it is V X Amp = Watt, so going backwards I guess you can divide by 12 to get the amps.* And frankly, on a cheapy like this I'd be hesitant to trust the published specs, best to go way under if you are going to use something like this.
* That's the total watt under the 12v+ combined, (which apparently can't be found on the Apevia site for this model) not for the whole PSU.
So for example, here is the page (spec. tab) on that Enermax with the $30 rebate (which I guess is sold out) and it is only 25 amps for both so it's pushing it - it looks like their 500w model would handle it though.
I already bought the graphics card and an western digital HDD, with bing CashBack(ftw!) and I've been trying to understand THIS article for the past few minutes with much difficulty. I suppose 24A is relatively low, and any 500watt supply should suffice for someone not hooking up a whole lot of components or overclocking, but it would be nice to have that option. These are the three I'm thinking about, which should all have black friday ordinance.. eventually.
Xion simple 630w $39.99 Antec 550 continuous $39.99 or one of these cheapy ones I've seen for $20, I really should be checking eBay too, but any mildly knowledgeable expertise on my situation is MUCH appreciated. thank you.
Here is a post on the Antec, it sounds like that would probably handle it fine:
HonestJohn said: Unfortunately Antec doesn't make it clear what the total wattage is and I wasn't able to track it down. So I turned to the PSU list over on Guru3D which says your power supply has a total of 32a on the combined +12v rails. I haven't found an error in their list yet, so I'm betting it's accurate.

Nice information. I also like how they almost word the description for the antec psu as n00b-proof, which I definitely need. I'll just check out eBay and whatever Gure3D is for the next few moments before I bite. Thanks a bunch!
.. if you are open to a rebate deal, I just came across this OCZ modular for $35 AR. I have the 700watt version and have been very happy with it, also they publish the specs - dividing the total +12v on the 500 watt one gets 36amps. (apparently in this case it does add up)

Heh, an OEM Sunbeam for $6 AR on Newegg - ridiculous. Sure if you are only looking to power something for a short period of time (hours?) but then is that worth the rebate..
don't cheap out on the power supply just to save a few bucks if you're gonna use it in your main system.
get the $20 antecs or $30 other-big-brands that come around every now and then. they are more power efficient, and will make up for the initial cost difference in electricity bills
these cheap channelwell-made psu's have a higher chance of blowing up

I've purchased 2 of these. Both work well (onboard graphics). Rebates were slow, but reliable (hand-written checks). Like I said before, if you have a very underpowered system, these cheap PSUs are great. Don't cheap out if you have a high-performance, gaming, or graphics-intensive rig.
