Maybe its different in other states, but here in Washington if you purchase $100 worth of gift cards you get whats called a bounce back card woth $20 dollars. However, it can only be used beginning on Jan 1 2010 through the middle of February. So at least here its not like a gift card at all as it has a set time limit on its usage.
