Starting Friday, November 27, all the way through Sunday, December 13, you can buy various gift cards at Kroger and associated Kroger Corporation stores in $100 denominations, and get a $10 discount. You can buy up to $500 of gift cards for $450 per Kroger Plus card, but anything you buy has to be in one transaction. You can mix and match cards (e.g. buy $50 of Best Buy and $50 of Sears). For reference, news release on PR News Wire. PDF for more info.

Kroger family stores that will be participating include:

  • City Market
  • Dillon's
  • Jay C Food
  • Food 4 Less - (no loyalty card required)
  • Fred Meyer
  • Fry's - (the grocer, not the electronics)
  • Kroger
  • QFC
  • Ralphs
  • Smith's

From the ad, the available stores include:
  • Applebees
  • Bass Pro Shops
  • Bath & Body Works
  • Best Buy
  • iTunes Store - (Best Buy will have iTunes $30 gift cards for $25. Double dip by buying Best Buy cards from Kroger first).
  • Pottery Barn - (Also works at Williams Sonoma and West Elm)
  • Sears / Kmart / Land's End - (All Sears Holding Company gift cards work at Sears, Kmart, The Great Indoors, and Land's End stores as well as online).
  • Spa Finder

I think they did something similar to this with the 'stimulus rebate' but it was only with kroger giftcards. Wonder if this would allow you to do the same, then you could use those kroger cards to buy another stores giftcard and thus saving about 20%.

It's hard to tell exactly what gift cards are available from the ad. But if you can buy $500 worth of Kroger gift cards for $450, this deal would be smoking hot. You could potentially do that on one Kroger Plus card, then you could in turn use $450 of that $500 to purchase other stores' gift cards using another Plus card.

Net:
You spend $450 and you get $50 in Kroger gift cards and $500 in other stores' gift cards. for a savings of 100/550 = 18%. Again, this really depends on if Kroger gift cards are part of this promotion.

I want the Fred meyer (kroger) gift cards for 10% off, to save about 27¢ a gallon on gas plus the usual 3¢ off

I doubt the Kroger GCs count for this promo. They do not even count towards the fuel points promo let alone being worth DOUBLE FUEL POINTS as the current promo is running.

Thanks OP. It would have been much sweeter deal if they would have offered it before thanks giving. Also wondering if Kroger is going to same discount on their own Gift cards.

I saw this last night at the customer service desk while I was loading up with batteries. There were no Kroger cards on the list. But, I remember from last year's gift card Christmas promotion with Best Buy, they ran out of gift cards and then couldn't 'issue' them anymore.

I would suggest getting the gift cards now and then bringing them to the register during the dates of the sale. Last year I ended up taking the gift card cards (which are free with no value attached) from the grocery store across the street and bringing them into the Kroger.

Last year was 20%, I think, it was buy $50 BB GC and get a $10 OYNO catalina. There was no limit per household but you could only do one per order as well.

OP, please update title to include Ralphs also. the socal ralphs stores are also participating in this deal. it's advertised in today's LA times ralphs section. this is a good way to charge $500 on the new british airs chase rewards card that everyone is applying for.

Are you sure this would not be considered theft?

I work for Ralphs and you cannot do what you are suggesting. You cannot buy other retailer gift cards with Kroger brand gift card. The system is programmed to stop this.

My first impression upon reading this thread is that you had to buy $100 for a single store. I might add some language that specifies that you can mix and match denominations of the gift cards however you want.

Also, Pottery Barn gift cards can be used at Williams Sonoma and West Elm stores as well.

Don't know if it was location specific or not, but I had a problem with this deal at a SC Kroger. I first took $100 worth of Best Buy gift cards to the register, and when they rang up, no discout came up (even though they also scanned my Kroger Plus card). I showed the cashier the ad, and she said I had to buy $100 or more of the specific denomination cards in the picture. I then took 3 of the Best Buy $45 packs up to the register, and again, no discount came off. She called over the manager, and after a 5 minute powwow with another cashier, they just manually took $10 off the $100 transaction and told me they'd figure out the problem later.

It may not work too well right now, because, as the OP stated, the deal does not start until November 27

You are fortunate they let you have the deal already.

Also, King Soopers, another Kroger store, will be running this deal as well.

THe ad says it starts 11/22
Prices Valid: Sunday, November 22 to Saturday, December 12

My mistake. I learned about this deal in the store - they already had a huge display up and had moved the gift cards to a spot right as you walk in the door. I went through the previously mentioned debacle and came here to post my experience. After searching for "Kroger", I found this thread and didn't read the details since I'd already made a purchase. My bad.

Could I buy $500 in Kroger gift cards and get the five ten dollar gift card bonus? I'm confused.

You can't buy Kroger gift cards in this promotion it is only the eight gift cards listed in the OP.
If you buy $500 of those cards then yes, they would ring up as $450.
You also cannot use Kroger gift cards to make the purchase as they only accept cash or credit/debit card for gift card purchases.

Some of you are reading/interpreting this wrong. $100 of gift cards (mix-n-match) are on sale for $90. You can not double-dip (use Kroger gift cards to buy more Kroger gift cards).

Basically it ends up being 10% off where ever you buy the gift cards for. Nice deal. I imagine you could go to different stores and sign up for a new Kroger card if you need more than $500 (say you need $1,000 because you are buying a TV).

Their website has a page listing stores and denominations (link) but I know that there are others, such as a set of 3 $10 iTunes cards for $30.

Anybody know if you can use gift cards w/ the bing Cash Back deal?

At our Kroger store Smith's , you don't need your card just a phone number. If there is a limit on a sale I use my mom's or aunt's phone number. Both moved and don;t shop at smith's anymore, no need to sign up for a new card.

I saw a display of giftcards at the door yesterday but all it said was double points/rewards nothing about 90/100 sale.

Do they take $50 off for one $500 card? If so you can buy a green dot moneypak card, load PayPal and withdraw the money.

This was not the case for me, I used a Kroger GC to pay for my GC's

Give it a try and report back.

Apparently the CashBack is just for the listed cards and you can't buy a Greendot Moneypak w. a credit card.

Wish I saw this before buying the WD TV Live from Best Buy.

I get 1% CB on all purchases, 5% on gas and groceries. Will the credit card folks know if I buy Best Buy gift cards at the grocery store, or is it just a dollar amount and a store name to them?

At least for So Cal residents that shop at Ralph's there is a 400 point bonus for a purchase of $200 in gift cards. As far as I know these cards are not excluded. Would be really nice if both deals are applied.

Buy $200.00 = 400 bonus points
Buy $100.00 = 200 bonus points
Buy $50.00 = 100 bonus points

Expires Dec. 29th

Yes, you get both the $10 off and bonus points (I bought Sears gift cards yesterday).

BTW: It's Ralphs' (the apostrophy goes after the "s", since the store is named after it's founder, George A. Ralphs).

Is this cumulative or is it one bonus per card? i.e. Would I get 1000 bonus points for buying a $500 GC or just 400 bonus points (meaning the bonus maxes out at $200)?

Any coupon needed for the bonus?

TIA
