You might want to look up the reports on the new Sigg bottle liner material before buying this - I've seen a lot of reports that they are disintegrating easily, especially around the mouth of the bottles.

I purchased my current Sigg (1.0 ltr) near the beginning of October from a local store and the lining is already flaking around the threads at the mouth of the bottle. This is the new liner (light beige, not copper colored). This bottle is actually a replacement for another Sigg I had that started to flake after only a few weeks as well. Ridiculous and deceitful behavior by Sigg imo."

I have long used a Sigg, and opted in August to send mine in for a free exchange with one with a new Eco-care liner.
Only 2 months into the use of my new Sigg, I am drinking away, and an entire long strand of the nasty lining breaks off and enters my mouth. I am astounded at the poor quality of this. Was there even testing for what occurs during regular use during the production and design of this thing?
There is NO way I will continue to use this for drinking water. To be honest, I would feel more comfortable with my old Sigg, while it may be lined with chemicals, at least it didn’t spit them back in my face.
I suppose my best option is to graduate back to a kleen kanteen (although I have found that they turn dark brown on the inside after a while). I decided to give Sigg a second chance, and am SO let down."

All aluminum water bottles have a plastic liner.

From what I've read, the old liners were revealed to contain BPA. Some consumers felt misled because Sigg previously said that their liners do not leach BPA, and they assumed that meant BPA-free. Their new liners are now BPA free, but as an above poster said, looks like some people think the new liners are inferior.

I've had a sigg for a while, and it's the older BPA-full copper liner. The liner around the threads has chipped in places, but the rest is intact. I like using it.
