This is my first posting - so be gentle. Long time lurker, first time poster. I have been watching the price for Onkyo receivers for the past month. This morning at AVS forums, someone posted this deal at Best Buy and to quote him, he claims that there was some kind of Black Friday special available now at Best Buy for considerably less than Amazon has been selling this receiver. I thought that I would try my local Best Buy and was initially rebuffed by the Magnolia salesman. He told me that it was $799 and that was the sale price. He checked some pages and still couldn't find any deals. The manager was there, so I asked him how the Best Buy in Oregon was selling this for considerably less. I got the normal Best Buy yada, yada, yada. I told him thanks and walked away. While then shopping in another area of the store, the salesman chased me down to say that he found it on sale for $499. I said "cha-ching"! He was telling me that Onkyo is a new brand for them and they were having them on sale from now until Black Friday for 50% off and this should be chainwide. I should have asked how much the model 807 was. So maybe there is going to be some good Best Buy Black Friday deals after all. As I was checking out, the salesman offered to sell me an HDMI cable for a mere $9.00 per foot. It was hard to pass up - LOL!
ok, so i'm going to check to see if there really is all onkyo at 50% off for lunch.. if I can get the 607 for 250...i'll post here..and create a new thread

Just called my Best Buy in New Jersey and he couldn't find the deal, can you tell me what store and who you bought it from. Maybe I can call them and have it shipped
In for one in San Diego plus tax with in-store pickup. We had a TX-SR701 a few years ago and it was awesome until I blew it up with remote speakers for some reason 50 feet away. It was a great deal for around 4-500 bucks. Got a TX-SR 602, which never measured up. When we had the 701, there was a button we would push that would turn blue when we were about to watch a DVD, and the sound became incredible. I forget what they called that, but I hope this new one has that or it is going back.
I know this sucker will be heavy, and lots of trouble to move all the wires and cables, but the difference between the 7XX series and the 6XX series back then was a total deal breaker.
For some, like my dad, the 6XX was quite good enough. However, for us, the difference was like night and day.
Any comments re our expectations for this new receiver? Hopefully, we can craigslist the old one, as it is in primo shape.
i snoozed and missed out on this. Just got a 607 delivered for 276 from Amazon which is a great deal but would have liked to had the 707 for the 499 price. BB shows 799 now online.

276 would be asmoking price for the 607. When did you get it?
