you have to have a ticket to buy it in store. i don't know about you, but i'm not going to be one of those people that camps out in a tent at best buy for 3 days before black friday.
My kids and I camped out the last two years at Circuity City. They were really bummed that CC closed, as we had a blast. Again, that was overnight, you will need to camp out for days at Best Buy.
What is with the ticket required for the video games?????? They aren't that good of a deal at $35.

It depends on where you live. Many areas aren't nearly as bad. But yes, not worth waiting DAYS for!!!
Any ideas on the specs for Sony Laptop with The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 Blu-ray Disc, Headphones and Free AntiVirus Software for 1 Year* SKU: 9999120500050070 $480?
I'm liking the 7200RPM HDD a lot. I mean like: Duhhhhhh. Somebody out there finally got a clue that we are sick and tired of the 5400RPM crapola.
Good for BB!!
The HDMI, OTOH, is almost too good to believe at this price. It's more than I would have hoped for.

THERE WILL BE NO 7200 RPM HARD DRIVE...THERE NEVER IS WITH THESE INEXPENSIVE HP'S.....WHY THE SPECS ARE ALWAYS SHOWN BUY BB AS WRONG BOGGLES THE MIND! Same was posted for the WalMart model a few weeks back.....HP does not put 7200 RPM hard drives in these models....and really folks I had the WalMart model and returned it for the $320 MSI....at for $200 its a great deal...but with a single core even a fast SSD won't make this a fast machine.

What if you purchased it before friday, then took it in friday and got your money back?
The BestBuy.com Price Match Guarantee does not apply to Best Buy Retail stores or BestBuy.com for:

that's what i would do...
BF QnA says What if I previously purchased a product at Best Buy and the price is now lower in your Friday advertisement, TV ads or on BestBuy.com? What if I find a lower price available at a Best Buy competitor on Friday?
* The Best Buy Retail Store Price Guarantee and BestBuy.com Price Guarantee will not be in effect for items purchased on November 27 and 28.
BFDiff = Difference of Black Friday price and Regular Price
NumHours = Number of hours you would have to stand in line in order to get the product.
YourWorth = How much you think you should get paid in order to stand in line in order to get the product. (Weather is YMMV around country.. so consider that factor)
if (BFDiff > NumHours*YourWorth)
get up early (or stay awake all night) -> buy on BF
else
sleep -> but some other day.
end if

Why not? Take turkey sandwiches and some hot coffee. This is a deal!
Your welcome. Yeah, I realize for MANY this isn't worth the hassle....but for those already debating getting in line or truly can't afford more the $200 for a notebook....this might be their opportunity.

You're all echoing my thoughts exactly. Time = Money and my time is worth much more than a couple of hundred bucks saved on this laptop.
Also, funny f(x):
WOMEN = TIME + MONEY We all know that, TIME = MONEY

Not sayin' you're right or wrong because I dunno.
But if you're right and if BB does not clean up their description this could be a HUGE moneymaker. Determining HDD rotational speed is pie easy. If it's not really a 7200 you just take the laptop back, along with a copy of the ad (keep a copy for God's sake), and demand to be compensated for the error. I would say another fifty bucks could come off the price . . easy.
A couple years ago I had a similar thing happen at BB with a laptop I bought:
Their ad said DVD writer. It was read only. I took it back. Fifty bucks right on the barrel head (I kept the laptop because I didn't really care.).
Remove just one cover and you will know instantly if you were misled. I smell opportunity . . . . or not if it really IS a 7200 and you are wrong.

jaj1701- this is why we are going to be in line. For 200 bucks this is a good deal. We just want a crappy computer for facebooking, checking e-mail, weather etc. We have higher end computers at home for more high end stuff like watching movies. This will be a good 'kickaround' computer and if it dies in 2 years who cares! 200 bucks for a computer to surf the web is great for us. As for tenting out for 3 days? Where do you guys live? Must be large cities. I'm in a suburb of Buffalo and 'camping out at midnight' got us a computer last year. It was a 5 hour wait max. If I had to camp out for 2 days or something I'd never do it. Not worth missing Thanksgiving! I want to eat dinner first then get in line

It might be 7200 rpm because it's only 160gb. They use 5400 rpm higher capacity drives in laptops because since the data is more dense on the platters it's physically closer together and therefore able to be read faster so you get the the same speed (give or take based on density) as a 7200 rpm drive with less power usage which = less heat and more battery life. So it's actually not very practical to throw a huge 7200 RPMer in a laptop.

This is a good deal if you are willing to wait in line for at least 36 hours. But I would rather get the $199 from WalMart, because: (a) The processor on both are crappy anyway (the WalMart one is even slower), but single core celerons do not have speedstep, i.e. you really cannot put it on your lap unless you want to burn yourself. (b) Graphics, 4500M (not 4500MHD) does not even have HD-decode, while 780g does. And anything with ATI on it is going to be much more predictable in games even if all you play in The Sims 3. (c) If they sold out of these at bestbuy (Attention: They only have a MINIMUM of FIVE), the next cheapest one is $399. Whereas the next cheapest laptop at WalMart is $299 (which is nearly the same as the 199 at BB, so now you may not think that is cheap anyway). (d) The BF line at BB is almost always the longest out of all retailers. If you line up at, say, 6pm the day before, there will literally 100 people in front of you. So you may just forget it. Just my 2 cents.
Posting from my $298 Wal-MartHP celeron laptop that does indeed have a 7200 rpm hard drive in it...my guess is this one does too. Let's hope the "secret sale" is the new Black Friday. Bring em on.

As stated in my previous comment, I'm posting from the Wal Mart laptop with a single core Celeron. Not only is it plenty fast (once removing the garbage...thanks HP), this laptop isn't even remotely hot. It has no fans (must be some large internal heatsinks or something). It isn't even remotely hot and can easily sit on your lap. There isn't a single part of it I wouldn't touch to my face, even after extended use. Care to enlighten us on which models (there must be many) that you tested to come up with your conclusion that single core Celeron based laptops run really hot? Seriously, this thing is cooler than my Dell mini 10. Gotta love noobs with opinions.

Also, funny f(x):
WOMEN = TIME + MONEY We all know that, TIME = MONEY
Therefore, WOMEN = MONEY^2
Since, MONEY = √EVIL WOMEN = EVIL
Well actually, your equation would have to say TIME * MONEY, not TIME + MONEY.
In your example, if TIME = MONEY then TIME + MONEY becomes MONEY + MONEY. If money is 2, then 2*2 = 4 and 2+2 = 4, but if money is 3, then your example fails because 3 + 3 is not the same as 3 * 3. 6 =/ 9.
Sorry to get technical on you.

The graphics in Wal-Mart's $198 lappy are far superior, it is the HD 3200 Radeon chip as opposed to the 4500M. So another reason to go to Wal-Mart instead.
You guys must be 'techy'...we just want to do Facebook, fat wallet, weather, cnn, msn, tripadvisor and yahoo! Any crappy old computer will do! I have no clue what the difference is btwn single whatever, 7200 whatever, Celeron, blah blah. This computer is 200 bucks and for that I expect little to nothing. Anyone who truly wants a 'good' computer or knows what a 'good' computer is probably isn't in the market for this type of BF deal. It's for those of us who know nothing technical, and just want a kick around computer for basic surfing- no gaming, no extras.

If you get rid of the crap on it, you'll be shocked at how capable a computer like this is. You gotta keep perspective and realize that the $1000 CPU (as in just the chip) from just a few years ago is slower than the $50 CPU in a machine like this.
By the way, these people aren't "techy"...they just don't know what they're talking about for the most part.

Thanks for clearing that up and congrats on buying a great new laptop!!
A 7200RPM HDD is a must have laptop drive in 2009. 5400RPM was fine. But that was back in 2005!!
I had to buy a 7200RPM HDD for my laptop bought back in 2007 and then I had to re-install the OS. It was a PITA. But that was then and this is now.
Some people remain wedded to the old, slow, 5400RPM drives without option of divorce. Some of these same individuals believe buying an inexpensive laptop with a 7200RPM drive in 2009 is an impossibility.
