Red for not having six separate accounts to get around those restrictions

This is a great deal. Thanks OP.

considering most $1tb drives cost around $80 these days, you are getting 50% more storage for $10 more.

I'd say this is hot if you can look past the 5900 RPM speed

I have two of these in a MSI Nettop 100 doing RAID1 for NAS over gigabit ethernet. Reads hit 70+MB/s and writes hit 50+MB/s. Very solid. Not the quietest drives, but tucked away in a "data closet", perfect.

Is this that much better than the WD Green, which is $5 less?

nice thanks! was going to pick up the bf target 1tb but this works too for about the same $/gb

Got 2 Thanks!!!

My bad, I read this as 1gb. Might have rethink this now.

I have 2 Samsungs which are working well. And I have 2 Hitachi's which are dead on my desk, waiting for an RMA. Samsung and WD are my preferred drives these days. No more Hitachi ever, and although I've never had an issue with a Seagate, there are too many recent reports of issues to purchase.

So thumbs up to Samsung. In for 1.

Green for ya OP! Samsung, WD and Hitachi are aces in my book. I no longer trust Seagates, at least the 7200.11. Jury's out on the 7200.12 and everything 7200.10 and prior (except the 7200.9) was solid.

Which Hitachi(s) ?

I now have a 1tb Samsung and a 2tb Hitatchi I just bought. Both seem to be running just fine.

I've had two lesser sized WD's crap out on me, and one of these was a warranty replacement directly from WD that died within 3 months time. Everyone has their little experiences, and then there are those occasional patterns that emerge when a flawed design or process finds it's way into the market. I don't know much about the Hitachi I bought other than it was a good buy. Before I bought my Samsung, I saw a few posts from folks that got bad drives from them.

I was also going to pick up a few 1TB WDs for $60 at Target, but this is a better deal. In for 2. Thanks!!

I could probably write data faster to the platter with my handwriting. (I write in cursive for speed).
