Vivitar SF3000 Digital Slave Flash For Digital SLR Cameras - Enhance Photos, Colors & Saturation

Hi,

I'm trying to find how it connect with the camera when it's sitting on the side. The only place I know is the hotshoe sitting on top of the camera for a clip on flash, but what if you want it farther away from the camera? Do I need anything extra?

Thanks.

PS: http://www.vivitar.com/home.php main website but using the model # to search without result.

Does anyone know what kind of manual controls this thing has? There's no electronic connection to the camera while its sitting on its side, hence "slave mode". You can attach it to a bracket but I would just hand hold it or put it on a nearby table. Maybe mount it on a gorillapod or something similar.

I used to have one a few years back to use with nikon 950. When projected onto the ceiling (avoid direct exposure on the subject), it used to help fill the room nicely. In 4 1.

i'm guessing it will probably be limited to whatever the sync speed of the camera is, so you won't be able to run it with a fast shutter.

fyi for those wondering how it connects: it doesn't. it just fires off when it senses the flash from your camera. this unit does have the good feature of ignoring the pre-flash used by most cameras nowdays for metering or red-eye reduction and just firing on the "real" flash pop.
