Microcenter will have it on Friday for $1000+tax with a $200 rebate, so it might be a better deal, depending on local tax and how far away is microcenter.

Actually this deal has been going on since Nov 2 and ends Dec 6. Also, just for clarification, the "rebate" is in the form of a Visa GC, not cash.

It's $959.99, not $911.99. How does one get the $911 price?

There should be a gold chest on the right side of the page. Clicking on the Gold Box offer will take you to the $911 sale.

There is no Gold Box on the page ? Is this expired? I also found no record of it listed in past deals at Amazon ?

I'm not finding the deal in the Gold Box either. Just two video deals and two upcoming deals....

Nobody else on the entire net has mentioned this deal, nor has anyone at Amazon Forums talked about this deal. Seems strange that nobody else in the world knows of this deal ??? This post however has made its way across the net!

Still live for me at this time. Uploaded a screenshot of ad (if you cannot reach the Gold Box deal, call Amazon customer support and they will most likely do a price adjustment).

this is just an unintentional gold box trick

Important to note:

This version DOES have firewire. Some of the recent white macbook incantations omitted it, but this has it. You do not want this computer without it...

UPDATE : Just got off the phone after a half hour with Amazon. A phone salesman, and two managers later, I have Amazons answer. They claim it is a "Photoshop" hoax. They can find no history of ever posting this price on their site in the last 24 hours. It is most definitely "NOT" still "live" right now. They were led by me to this forum, shown this screen shot and followed the link. It just goes to their standard Gold Box page. They are definitely not willing to do a price adjustment. They advised they are going to research this further.

So either a hoax, or an error that they don't want to pay out on.......you decide for yourselves !

I'm saddened to hear that Amazon deduced the deal to a simple "Photoshop" trick. The deal was lukewarm at best in the first place, and the trivial discount simply does not warrant any effort by anyone to create a mock-up ad.
Anyway, the deal is still live for me at the time of this message: updated screenshot also uploaded.

If you click the link to the computer does it let you go through the order process to get it for that price ? (without actually finalizing the order of course!) This is actually the best price I have seen without dealing with Rebates (that I would probably never get). If it goes through the process, I would probably spend some more time calling them on their error! Thanks!

Also the manager said that every price on the screenshot was incorrect. None were current prices. They also said there are no plans for this model to be this low priced in the future, nor has it been that low since it came out a month ago.

Yes, I am able to enter the checkout/shipping page with $911.99.
Best of luck to you. Amazon in my opinion no longer offers the same quality customer care they used to 6 months ago; even price adjustments on prior purchases have been constantly denied to me.

Update: Now $884.98
