I bought some of these at the last eBay sale. They are a lot more rickety than the locks you can buy in luggage stores for about $5 each. I think a small whack with a hammer will shatter them. On the other hand, if you're just trying to scare thieves away (so they will break into someone else's luggage instead), then these might be OK. Long term durability is very questionable, though.
Edit: I should add that I recently used the eBay locks during a 3 week vacation and didn't have any trouble with them. I'm sure they are much better than nothing.
