The upgrade rebate form has a very wide valid date range (9-29-2008 - 3-31-2010). Meaning if you already did this once in the last year and a half you may not qualify. The terms (dates) on the Frys.com page (9-29-2009 - 3-31-2010) differ from those on the upgrade rebate form. Don't know which is right. FYI. Probably a typo, but again FYI.

Becareful about nero UPGRADE mailing rebate. Last year, my nero upgrade mailing rebate did not go through well. I submitted all required documents for the upgrade mailing rebate nero 8. And the rebate company showed online that the rebate was valided and waiting for issuing the rebate check. However, the rebate check issuing procedure was delayed and delayed for a couple of weeks (or maybe months), I called the rebate company by the phone number provided on the rebate form, they just told me to wait, and they will issue the rebate check later. Then, after a couple of months additional waiting, I found that the rebate company filed bankrupcy and the phone number provided on the rebate form become invalided... the other mailing rebate of nero 8 goes through very well from nero. Only the upgrade mailing rebate of Nero 8 from a third party rebate company did not go through well.
Plus shipping for the rest of us not lucky enough to live by the small number of stores.. True but I'm thinking that a 2 hour round trip drive to be at a fry's on BF is worth the $7 shipping.
I really need a new copy of Nero. However, I think I'm staying away from this one. "competitive upgrade" rebate mentions absolutely nothing about any sort of upgrade.

Good math! Unless you're getting someone else to drive and pay for the gas, you're a little off there.

I agree. If this $20 rebate dosent come Frys will hear about it. It does not say if this version works with Windows7...anyone know?
The upgrade rebate on Fry's site, http://images.frys.com/art/rebates_pdf/5732392_100109.pdf, does not indicate the title page requirement of competitor or previous version.
The upgrade rebate on the box shows the title page requirement, which instruction should we follow?
All you need to do is simply do not install with the CD, download the current version online, and simply use the Product Kwt from the retail package.

Yes it would appear it is compatible with Windows 7: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Nero-9-Compatible-with-Windows-7-Drops-in-October-2009-119200.shtml
first, the upgrade/competitive MIR does NOT require any upgrade information second, this form use exactly the same offer #, offer date as last year's
I already claimed last year's but now I opened this one, how can I claim the $20 upgrade/competitive one?

I bought Nero 9 from Frys around Thanksgiving. I should have printed out both rebate forms back in November. I waited until I received it in December. When I looked at http://images.frys.com/art/rebates_pdf/5732392_100109.pdf in December, it said that you needed proof of ownership of another product. Back in November, that PDF had no mention of owning another product. I tried emailing Frys about this, and they kept sending me a PDF that requires you to have owned another product to get the $20 back. I'm about ready to RMA it while I still can, unless someone has a link or can email me an attachment of the form that doesn't require proof of ownership of another product. Thanks.

Just looked at the $20 upgrade rebate I printed on the 26th and it requires the ownership of a prior edition of Nero or other "retail" competitive software. So does the little red sticker for the $20 rebate on the front of the box. Something like Sony Soundforge or roxio Creator or earlier version of Nero suffices. The upgrade rebate hasn't changed since September.

Thank you for your insightful post. You must be a very accomplished person in life.
You do realize that the rebate form on Fry's website does not list the eligible products. So I was hoping somebody already owning the product with red sticker would be able to tell me before I made the trip. But, of course, that would not cross your highly developed brain that allows you to read, comprehend and follow instructions.
BTW, I have been a FW member for at least 5 years and have recently begun to feel that people like you are beginning to outnumber those who made this place a pleasant experience. In other similar forums (e.g. AT or SD), FW now is getting the reputation of being a rude place. I guess I understand now.
Say, Frogurt The "Competitive/Upgrade" rebate offered in the Quick Summary still says nothing about having to own any previous product. Isn't that exactly the form you want? The only reference I can see to previous products is possibly implicit in the mailing address name; hardly a part of the requirements.
Doublehelix747: Quite well-stated. This Ellory assumes something, then belittles the author for Ellory's mistake. If you're listening, Ellory, please doubt yourself as much as you doubt others.

Does anyone know if it possible to send in a copy of the UPC from a box of Nero 9 and the 1st page from Nero 9 instruction manual to get the $20 upgrade rebate? I haven't opened the box to see if there is a manual, because I might send it back to Frys for an RMA.

I sent in the original rebate form you are talking about which is attached. I did not include proof of a competitor's product. They will have to honor the rebate using that form.
The current upgrade rebate form lists Corel videostudio or Corel videostudio plus as one of the eligible product. Frys's often has Corel videostudio x2 or Corel videostudio pro x2 FAR. Does anyone know if they would work? I went to Corel site and it lists only th x2 versions.

Has any one heard back from Nero regarding using the original form yet? I just got the status e-mail, so no update yet, gonna keep watching that status.
