1TB Link

On sale for $69.99 -$10 when you pay with Discover = $59.99

1.5TB Link

On sale for $89.99 -$10 when you pay with Discover = $79.99

Seems to be the cheapest HDD deals afaic for Discover card holders for an Internal drive. Green.

Thanks OP. Ordered one with Discover Card.

Will there be a cheaper 1TB drive tonight or in the morning? seems pretty good to me without having to stay up or stand in line.

I prefer the Newegg 1.5tb Cavier Green deal for $89 with the free (was $39) dock.

Sorry, having trouble finding it. Do you have the link?

Did anyone notice this review that claims that the Amazon shipping on the OEM drives is really bad?

link

I am surprised because some folks said the other way in the deal on 640gb drive earlier.

Discussed here

How do you get the dock?

Amazon Green 1.5 for $79

thanks, added as an option.

By the way, if anyone is interested about the problem with head parks on WD Green HDDs. Here is the thread...here.

mods have unlocked thread, it was locked erroneously.

Thanks for the heads up, picked up the 1.5tb. BTW, I'd certainly recommend paying the $20 extra to get 500mb more space!

thanks, in 4 1.5TB with the Discover $10 off

I was lucky to land that Newegg deal that came with the dock. Was $81.00 assuming the bing is legit.

Ditto. Thanks OP as this seems better than other BF prices, or is it ?

Thanks OP. In for the 1.5TB with the Discover $10 off

thank, in for 1 1.5

So there really was a combo deal with the dock and the 1.5tb drive, not the 1tb? Wish I had gotten in on that

order 1TB first, cancelled after few hours, for $20 more, i got the 1.5TB.
thanks.

thanks.

How did you cancel?

My order went to "prepare to shipping" immediately and cannot be canceled

Silly question, but I don't have a Discover card... Does anyone know how quickly I can apply and make a purchase on Amazon?

I'm pretty sure you're looking at several business days before you'll have your account number. Although, I'm not sure if you could find a Discover Gift Card and then use that - might work.

It looks like they've pulled the $10 offer, but the rep mentioned it might come back.

$10 offer is gone. It's almost 6pm now. Don't think it'll come back... should I pull the trigger or not, should I pull the trigger or not...

FYI everyone, prices are still $69.99 and $89.99. I found this thread after finding the $69.99 price and doing a search (yeah, really )

I'm surprised how many people are jumping on this.

The poor packaging from Amazon scares the hell out of me.

I don't have Discover but I got the 1.5 for $90 and that's still a great deal.

No more Discover card instant savings on Amazon anymore but the price is still great at $89.99

I'm going to hold out for Cyber Monday and hope they bring back the Discover promo. Someone posted a news link on maybe its possibility.

1.5 TB now $109.99 at Amazon.
1 TB still $69.99

HTN said: I'm going to hold out for Cyber Monday and hope they bring back the Discover promo. Someone posted a news link on maybe its possibility.I hope they do bring it back, but I doubt it ... the Cyber Monday page is stating that it is "Presented by American Express ".

hmmm ... dunno if it matters much, i'm crossing my fingers i wont have any issues, but all the bad packaging reviews seem to be targeted at the 1TB (not 1.5TB) drives ... i hope everyone gets their hard drives well packaged and ready to last, nobody wants to deal with any headaches

also, i think that i noticed the "Presented by American Express " tag on Amazon's BF pages a few days ago even when the discover card promo was on (and i've been hearing rumors that the $10 off might come back tomorrow?) .... we'll see if Amazon decides to bring the price back down on the 1.5 TB drive or not though as it's back up to $109.99 now

good luck and happy holidays all

could you summarize or explain briefly the problem with head parks? the thread you linked is pretty technically detailed, and while i can follow along some (need to go back and look up a couple of things), since you were kind enough to post the link, i thought perhaps a quick summary might be nice too

the only times(2) and shame on me for that i bought drives from Amazon they bugged out after i loaded them up or DOA. paid for saturday delivery too. ended up going to the microcenter to buy a junk samsung instead to meet the timeline.

maybe things have gotten better? buy a nice Retail Kit you know they won't do a bulk breakdown

Skipping 9 Messages...

You can try the jumpers to limit it to SATA I speed I guess. I have never needed to do that.

I got my drive today and it came in a regular western digital box with the plastic holders. Not too fantastic but hopefully that does the job. I think people who get them with bad bubble wrap or however else probably are getting ones that were shipped in bulk to Amazon in those larger foam containers which is why they don't have the original packaging sometimes.
