Looks like a good deal.
Never got an Oil Change done at Firestone.
This would be a good time to give them a try.

I could use the tire rotation...wasn't looking forward to doing it myself. Win!

Thanks OP.

Let the flaming of Firestone begin!

Buy Mobil 1 syn oil+ oilfilter at WalMart ~$23. Pour it yourself or pay some mechanic to change the oil(about $10 max).

Oil disposal fee is about $3. Catch with firestone is that they basically find all sorts of fairy tale faults with yr vehicle! Did you stockup with the NAPA syn oil deal few months back or even Pennzoil 5qt syn oil ~5 AR ? If not WalMart/Advance auto parts/pepboys is a start.

Wow, including 5 qt. synthetics. Valvoline just tried to charge me $79.99 for synth.

Ok, so pay more than the deal for just the parts...and then go try and find a mechanic to do the oil change for 10 bucks?

Besides, no mechanic will waste his time. Book time for an oil change is at least 20-30 min @ $60/hr = 20-30 bucks PLUS oil/filter that you bought. Oh, and the tire rotation.

Even with your rates...that's $36 instead of of 19? How's that a deal?

Sure, they're going to look for other things to 'fix' on your car. That IS how they make money when they're almost giving away oil changes. Your recourse? "No, thank you. Just the oil change please". Tadaa! Heck, they might find something legitimate you need done as well.

This is a synth blend but you can't run it for a long time like full synth. It is pretty much like a high grade regular oil.I have been getting my oil changes with this at firestone with the $19.99 coupons for a few years now and they have done a good job.I wouldn't buy much of anything else from them some of the cheap tires are a good deal but the engine repairs are way over inflated, they charge you retail even if they get the part for cheaper.

Everyone read the coupon again - it is for synthetic blend. Their full synthetic oil change is considered their Premium oil change.

Before you risk the integrity of your car and your patience, you should do a search here for some prior threads on Firestone deals and read some of the horror stories people have posted about the sort of business practices that Firestone shops typically engage in, rendering these oil change specials far less than a hot deal.

Cupcakes take it easy. I got 2 boxes (12x2) 5w30 1qt NAPA syn oil for $2.99/qt and purolator filter for $1.25 a piece a few months back with my MM rebate cards (so basically oil+ filter is all FREE for me). Meineke changes oil/filter + oil disposal for me for $10 flat! So shhhhhhhhhhhh.

what if you bring your own oil, and they just include the filter, will they do it? this is a good deal because of the tire rotation, they usually charge $20 and up for that alone.

never mind, they don't do it. i would need to pay $55 for mine, and i'd still be saving $12 with the coupon. not good if you use synthetic.

will WalMart price match this?

if u bring your own oil they will just keep it for their own cars and use their crappy bulk oil for your car.

WalMart won't PM shiiiiiat! If Syn blend is good enough for your vehicle, go with this or else buy your own and pour.

Does anyone else have trouble viewing/printing this coupon? I get the main part, but the background isn't there.

FYI - According to the Firestone web site ...

STANDARD OIL CHANGE

Our value-priced basic service:

* install new filter
* install up to 5 quarts of Kendall® GT-1® Synthetic Blend motor oil
* lubricate chassis (if necessary)
* 3-month/3,000-mile warranty

I would NOT go to Firestone at any price. They over charge everything, I was given a coupon to repair a flat tire. When I brought my car in, they want $18 to repair, and did not honor the coupon. That's all BS!!!!

I used this coupon today at the Firestone Tire Center in Roanoke Rapids, NC. It is located near exit 173 off of I-95. Melvin was very nice and professional and nobody tried to sell me anything extra. The total bill was less than $20.00 including tax, so this work! Thanks OP!

I used the coupon last night in Bossier, La. Worked like a charm. Was also able to stack a $10 off coupon for completing a brief customer satisfaction survey at the bottom of a recent invoice. The manager said that's the one thing you can stack with another coupon. My total bill was $9.81 for the synthetic blend oil change and tire rotation...and no attempts at up-sell. Can't be beat!

Coupon worked fine for me. I presented it upfront and got 2 cars done. Total was $20.63/car with taxes and whatever fee there is.

For one car, I added a Fuel Injection Cleaning service for $69. They tried to sell it to me for $90 and then $79. The $69 fuel cleaning I thought was fair and I also consented to a new engine air filter for $31.99 with installation (yes I know the filter is like $5 but I'm not mechanically inclined and googling for instructions and doing it would take me over an hour). I make a lot more then that per hour. So I'm happy at the end of the day.

They didn't care if you get any additional services. All that matter was they honored the coupon.

You are the kind of customer that the coupon was made for, and people are warning about - upselling of unnecessary services. Do some research about Fuel Injector Cleaning - could actually damage your vehicle. http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/516924?highlight_key=y... has some good information.

Nice find OP. Just in time. Thanks

It takes like 5 min to change an air filter (including googling for instructions). It's one of the easiest things to do.

Took this coupon to the Bellevue, WA location. They refused to accept it, stating that it wasn't one of their coupons. I checked their website and called the manager, who still refused to accept the coupon with the same excuse. Called Firestone Consumer Affairs at 1-800-367-3872, and am awaiting a call back in the next few days.

Am I wrong in thinking that a store should honor a coupon from its own website? Bellevue isn't even a franchise location, and the coupon does not say "valid at select locations" or anything like that.

I'm starting to think that all the complaints against Firestone are well founded.

Offer still good; exp date is now 2/26/2010.

Worked fine in Irving, TX. It took a while though but, nothing you can do about that.

I agree, but it depends on which Firestone you go to.

There is one that I would go to because I know the mechanics can be trusted.

If they tell you stuff needs to be done, don't do it then. Compare shop on the phone and see what price ranges other mechanics are charging and even go to another mechanic for second opinion.

I have 2 smaller mechanics I trust, but once in a while, if a Firestone deal comes up, I'll take my car there. I've taken my car to a another mechanic (never again) who charged $25 years ago and he spilled the oil in the bay area, so it smelled when it burned up. They are all prone to mistakes.

Any experience in CA??? What does "shop fees not applicable in CA or NY mean"??
I want to read that they will not charge any and that if one only buys the oil service and free tire rotation
$18.99 + a possible filter disposal fee (how about I collect it and dispose of it myself?) + tax is all.
Can anyone confirm??

they did it, but tried to upsell me an air filter and cabin filter on my brand new accord with 5000 miles on it.

I have had no problems with one Firestone and this coupon in New York (Staten Island, Forest Ave location) but another location nearby was very shady. So, it is YMMV and yes, they will upsell you. However, it is a good deal for those who are not inclined to deal with the mess or spend the time of doing it yourself.

good deal, I have no intrest in doing my own oil change or tire rotation in the winter (unheated garage, wimpy 2 gallon air compressor that can't take off lugs, and just a jack + stands).

When it's warmer out I will do it but at $18.99 that's about the same cost of oil & filter at Autozone/AdvanceAuto.

FYI, the expiration date on the coupon is 3/14/2010.

I've started to have a shop change my oil more frequently because of the benefit to having the paperwork. As a buyer I like to see some paperwork that maintenance was done on the car.

I got an expiration date of 3/24/10 when I clicked on the link today, so it may be a 30 day coupon on when you click the link.

Nice. I took my dad's car in for an oil change at Firestone near my house. They didn't put the dipstick in the hole, they just shoved it in and lodged into the area next to it. Next day, burning oil smell and smoke from the engine bay.

Good price, I guess for good service YMMV. lol

Cheap a***.Lucky they not try to sell front brake and shock.

I had no complaints with the oil change or tire rotation. I did have to decline the $500 front brake/rotor replacement quote =). I'll do that myself for < $100.

Skipping 15 Messages...

Due to lack of time, i had to take my 300ZX to get the oil changed at Firestone. This was the first time i have ever let anyone else change the oil on this car. The amateur that was changing my oil forgot to remove the oil filler gun that they use prior to starting the engine. End result was 4 months wasted at their shop before i had to force them to transfer my car to my own selected mechanic.

Granted, they took care of things right away. I was not old enough at the time for a loaner, so they put it under my dad's name and paid for it for the full 4 months. Humans make mistakes, i might of been the one that pulled the short straw.
