Not sure how you managed the 15% CB. Did the search but WalMart never popped up with 15% cb when using HDTV. Although with expensive Minnesota sales tax and shipping, this might be about the same price as a few others have with free shipping and no tax.

i'm only seeing 4% Bing CB from WalMart. how do you get 15%???
I searched for HDTV WalMart many times, each time I clicked on "Bing CashBack" next to gold coin, a list comes up. Top of list is 12% CB for ViewSonic N3235w - 32" LCD TV, from tech for less, *not* WalMart. Everything from WalMart is only 4%. Am I missing something here or ...???

Does the 15% discount show up on the WalMart site? I find the 15% and click on it and it takes me to WalMart but when I go to check out I only see the regular price. I have only used bing with TigerDirect and it showed the discount at checkout.

The 15% just worked fine for me.
Go to Bing.com Search for HDTV At the top of the page, you should see "HDTVs at W@lMart" <<<click this!

Turn OFF Ad-block plus if you're using Firefox, or other ad-blocking apps, or use IE w/o ad-block.
Discount does not show up on WalMart's site. But it shows up on Bing CashBack account in a few minutes. It's 15% of $398. You pay tax on the full price though.
Thanks OP and csbp! The problem was firefox + adblock. Had to use IE to complete this order..only time I ever use IE is for the CashBack from MSFT, how ironic...

The definition of a "netbook" is quite fluid. But it you search major sites like J&R, these Acers are almost always classified as "notebooks".
The attached PDF file is a table comparing relevant CPUs.

If it's got a 12" or smaller screen and no optical drive, it's a netbook. End of discussion.

Weird thing is CashBack is not showing up..its been couple of hours now, usually it shows up pretty quick after payment..
I have the Acer 1810T same shell just a different Intel chip and it comes with bluetooth (BT can be added to 1410 for $20-$25) and its the best netbook/ultralight I've used. I had an MSI Wind and I loved it but this thing rocks!
great lappy, but has caveats... def must check in at notebookreviews. got mine for $320 after BCB, due to double down debauchery on BCM plus Newegg eggcellent customer service.
For instance, many have fan rattle to some degree. I had to totally disassemble to fix this annoying problem where housing meets heat sink.
And to the discourse above, it's not a netbook. It has win7, it comes with 2GB or ram (upgraded mine to PC26400 4GB), it has non atom dual core ULV; It has 1366x768 res; It has HDMI in and DXVA (read: 1080p h.264 offloaded to GPU). All this makes it NOT A NETBOOK, lol. Gotta look at more than the size there buddy. These suckers are a cross between the very basic netbooks and full full size lappies... sort of the new 'thin and light' notebook. I have a 14" Acer with DVD drive (thin and light), but this has the better processor.

ehhhh...there are many quality small notebooks that are not considered netbooks. It's a term that was coined recently and now people are making some serious generalizations. I must admit that newer netbooks have closed the gap quite a bit when compared to the expensive ultra portables, but the serious ultraportables are still superior

My X60 is considered a netbook? Sorry, but netbook is a relatively new term (as in the last couple of years) to describe cheaper/lower performance laptops (that are, yes generally have a screen smaller than 12" and no optical drive) that are primarily used for, you guessed it, surfing the net.

People above already explained why this technically isn't a netbook, but I just wanted to add that Acer's website also lists the as1410 in the notebook category.
i consider this a netbook hybrid. Size of some netbooks, but power of some notebooks. The problem with netbooks is that they were designed to surf the web and not much else. The problem is that nowadays web content is so much flash based that it requires decent processor power. On my atom based acer netbook, i am struggling with basic website like sprint just to pay my bills becuase of so much flash content.
I have this 1410 and love it. Surfs the web like a desktop. I can watch any movie in my collection including 720p mkv's (i don't have any 1080p to test) w/o a glitch and small and cheap enough that i feel comfortable with when i travel.
I got this at frys when it was $350 B&M. Even at 400 i think it is decent.
I'm typing on a Dell latitude D420, which has a 12" screen, no optical drive, and weighs three pounds, but came out before the term "netbook" was even coined.
Can someone explain how this is any better than this Acer Aspire that is the same but with a faster processor and is eligible for a free Windows 7 upgrade, with 8% BCB and no tax?
From what I see if you don't bother to report the sales tax on your tax form, TigerDirect has had just as good if not better deals for a long time now...

No much. The WalMart version has a dual core processor and a smaller HDD, the TD version is a little more expensive, slightly faster single core processor with a bigger l2 cache....I think you would have to have to have some kind of geek-fight about the real world differences in performance between the 2...IMHO, they are probably going preform about the same.
So, cheaper + comes with win 7 > more expensive and send in for free upgrade, I guess...

Actually that dual core proc supposedly makes a nice difference compared to single core. Look up the benchmark scores for su3500 vs su2300, pretty noticeable score difference. Also I know su2300 supports virtualization, not sure about su3500. I thought i read somewhere su3500 version struggles a bit with full screen youtube HD but not sure.
edit: here is one link about full screen youtube HD on 1410: http://www.liliputing.com/2009/10/acer-aspire-1410-update-new-400-model-can-handle-hd-youtube-videos.html
Also, i saw one place listing becnhmark score for su3500 as 490 while su2300 as 750, but benchmark can be deceiving. Given a choice, I would take su2300 with smaller HDD anyday but that is just me.
It seems to be popping in and out of stock. I'd recommend checking back here and then.
EDIT: Showing in stock for me as of this edit.

EDIT: Finally got order to go through... now we will see if it is fulfilled.

If someone is taking information from one source (whatever that might be) and reproducing/reformatting that information based on their interpretation of original information, it could very easily move away from anything remotely resembling a definitive fact. You see this happen quite regularly on Wikipedia. In IT?! Such as........................
That's the very reason why the editing model is so useful. Not a whooole lot of reinterpretation of how the OSI model works; how DXVA or Docsis works; or what 3g bands Japan currently employs, just 4 examples, to which there are thousands. I'd love to hear your spin of technology related wiki errors that happen on a regular basis. Let me go get some popcorn!
You proved my very point. In the case of the OSI model those standards were created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) (they would be the authority) outside of the Wiki. DXVA is an API specification created by Microsoft (they would be the authority) outside of the Wiki. Etc...
Your "netbook requirements" are not a standard set by any authority nor are they even listed as requirements on the very Wiki you linked (which you admited you were attempting to use as a "definite source").
Let's take a look at how most of those of those "defining" sentences start.
Netbooks typically... Some netbooks... Most netbooks... Many netbooks...
There is only one sentence in the entire Wiki that even comes close to stating any type of "requirement" or "must have" feature/function/specification.
Wikipedia said: All netbooks on the market today support Wi-Fi wireless networking...
LMAO... there is your one steadfast indisputable REQUIREMENT for a netbook!!! Must support Wi-Fi!!! And that one did not even make your list...
PS: Didn't you basically admit you were dead wrong with your stealth edit (9 days later!!)?
hakujin said: This is, minus the optical (which isn't a first in the notebook category), a full featured notebook.
a. You won't find *many* netbooks TODAY with a 1366x768 res b. You won't find *many* netbooks TODAY with a dual core pentium/celeron, but an Atom c. You won't find *many* netbooks TODAY with Windows 7 Home Premium, not even sure if there are any w/ Windows 7 Starter yet. More so, I don't *think* there are any x64 Netbooks shipping but could be mistaken. d. You won't find *many* netbooks TODAY with HDMI out, or shipped with 2 GB, upgradeable to 4+
