Regarding the red I see so far... I've heard many of the TigerDirect stories regarding rebates, but are straight purchases from them just as bad? Their ResellerRatings seem pretty good.

All the Tiger Direct stories come from years ago before they got their act together. I have no problem buying an item with a rebate attached to it from them now. The trick to always getting your rebates back regardless (and timely) is to send it out certified mail. Anything over $10 I take to the post office. I have a feeling that your rebate gets thrown into the "troublemaker" pile when you send it this way, because it always seems to cut the turnaround time in half.

I'm on Tigerdirects site now and using BCB i'm only showing getting 8% CashBack, how did you get the 15%? i'd be interested to know since i'm looking for a new DSLR. Thanks
It was a pretty good deal to me, I've been watching for a few months now. Amazon had a similar end-cost in December after a discount on the 55-200mm VR lens, that's the last one I remember in this price range.
Be careful with the $849 versus $899 ad pages. The last time I checked (last Thursday when I did my purchse), the $899 ad included the VR lens, the $849 ad included a non-VR lens.
I got mine for $899 - 15% (Bing) shipped, and I just got the $50 taken off for their price guarantee, so for me it was $714 for the body and two VR lenses, which I've never seen before. I got lucky on the $50, it was a credit to my credit card only because it was in transit. If I'd received it, I'd get a $50 Tiger Direct credit instead.
But here's the lame(r) part. I called before making the order and asked about the refund policy. He asked for the item number (good sign), I gave it to him, and he said (in short) "Net 30". Today I looked at my order form, and it's marked not refundable. The extra lens is (which accounts for $229.57 on my original $899 package), but the camera isn't. Apparently that's a directive from Nikon, as I read online and as the customer service rep was nice enough to read back to me. It's ok for us, since we're keeping the camera, but that was dumb.
