How does this compare to any version of Acronis? Do they do similar functions?

Supports file and differential backup that most free editions don't support. Green.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm already using the regular free edition and like it a lot.

Great! Just what I needee for my old laptop. Thanks

in for my son. thanks, op.

Sadly no "Copy" feature included. So will have access to only the cryptic backup archive.

Cannot have the following:
• Quick and easy migration of hard disks
• Direct access to the copied files and folders
• Perfect for easy duplication of systems

Pretty much useless for me since I wanted this for transefring my files to external hard drive for easy access. Thanks anyway OP. Maybe good for folks simply looking for peace of mind.

Sorry ... double post. Not sure waht's happening with my browser.

Is anyone able to register to get the serial number? I keep getting "Please fill in all required fields, marked with an asterisk." even though I have filled in all the fields.

Trying to register for serial just keeps giving me a 504 error over and over. Anyone else?

*update* Hmm got the serial in an email even though I got the 504 error. Go figure.

i love my Acronis so i'll pass, but this is a good deal

Getting the same problem

Doesn't work for me either...they have a problem with their form. I'll try again tomorrow if I remember.

Same here!

I finally got the registration info after about 10 tries.

Got Acronis 10 Personal edition free a while back...installed it on my win7 laptop and when I ran the exe it said it wasn't compatible with win7.

Yep! Finally got it to work also. Maybe just the fw effect loading down the site.

Is it 64-bit?

*spoke to soon, it just worked.

I had to try it several times, not sure what made it work the last time.

Doesn't appear to support Windows 7. Just lists XP and Vista x32 and x64 versions. Too bad...

Both the win 7 and the Acronis were the 32 bit versions.

As for the Paragon to those having win 7 problems...the info page says it fully supports win 7 and the download page had both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

FYI,

Registration is working now. Earlier problem seems to have been resolved.

Newbee question...
Any way to make a back up to an external drive and configure my PC to boot from it?
In other words, can I isolate the operating system to an external drive so that it will never become corrupted by daily online surfing/downloading? And, after PC boots up my internal drive would handle any and all other functions.
Is it possible?

It is possible to do some things along the lines that you are thinking. Search google for Windows Steady State. Also, it is possible to boot into Linux from a CD/DVD and then save things to your hard drive. It is also possible to install Windows to an external hard drive but you need to fix up the install CD/DVD before you start. Again, Google is your friend.

Yes, use windows steadystate or some of the other free alternatives. Take a look at the Sandboxie, you can have your browser and other programs run in a sandboxed environment and all changes made by them happen in there not to your OS/filesystem.

Pls try Acornis True Image - ver. 11.
I have it on Win 7 - Ultimate...no problem.

Unfortunately only the Version 10 Personal edition was free. No upgrades. I'll either stick with ping (http://ping.windowsdream.com/) or Paragon depending on how well it works.

Got one. Thanks and green!

Agreed. Lot's of reference material on setting up usb, rom, or embedded bootable versions of win.

Downloaded, but the form is not submitting with error as in above posts

cannot submit after 15 tries:/

not worth hitting it more than 10 xs.

sheet,, I bet they have the bug there on purpose to take as much email address for spam as possible.

I can imagine people using a few email address each to try toget the serial..

Now I feel REALLY stupid. Guess who tried all my different email addresses? And, no success with any.

Got one! Thanks OP!

I actually got two serials and product keys sent to the same email. Apparently I refreshed too soon.

First shot. You wussies.

In 4 1. Thanks OP, and green for you.

Right on the product page from OP:
