their is a $200 off instant coupon

-200
=799 before tax not a bad deal for Superbowl TV

Sony
Need a Sony coupon that earns 3.0% Cash Back?

They charge tax on a full amount.

which would make it about 922.50 OTD for LA County residents (including the CA recycling tax)

Or $799 if you live or shop in tax free New Hampshire!

you think Sam's Club will have something similar? along with the ps3? i remember they had this TV on sale for 999.99 with a free 120gb ps3 at Sam's Club

'tax free New Hampshire!'

LMAO!
Maybe you mean *SALES* tax free New Hampshire ?
By no means is it 'TAX FREE' New Hampshire.

which model is this?

praladh said: which model is this?

Is it the vl150 that shows up online:

Bravia

Seems like a very nice tv.

Like they said which model is this? that makes a difference to u if u don't know about T.V's
I have the KDLVE5 Ecoc with a free blue ray Netflix streaming for about $1100.00. at (Crutchfield) and it's worth it cause u have to check the contrast ratio wich is a difference i have a 100,000 to :1 check everything because u can b fooled!!! "specifications makes a difference with models."

AVS Forum thread about this model:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1203689

After reading the thread I could not find much that I didn't like. I have a Samsung LN52A650 with a 50000:1 dynamic contrast ratio (if my memory serves me right) and I NEVER set it to dynamic as it is really high to the point of hurting the eyes. I keep it on standard or Cinema most of the time. And I don't care about the ethernet port because the widgets are too restrictive for me. I am going to attach XBMC/htpc to this this anyways.
So in my experience the contrast ratio should be good enough, now what I am not sure about is the price. Is this the best price we have see for a comparable TV or I am better off waiting for Bravia 3 engine TV prices to fall and then buy a 46" for the bedroom!

Is that legal in california? I read otherwise.

That is the law in California, Tax on pre-rebate price. Kind of weird, because its supposed to be like a coupon, which should be taken off before taxes. Anyway, it's been done like this at Costco for ages...and on many other items as well

That is the law in California, Tax on pre-rebate price. Kind of weird, because its supposed to be like a coupon, which should be taken off before taxes. Anyway, it's been done like this at Costco for ages...and on many other items as well

Though, the law as I knew it (like 9 years ago) stated that "instant rebates" were to be treated as cash discounts for all legal purposes. It was the other rebates that were taxable. Perhaps it depends on who is issuing the rebate. (instant store rebate vs instant manufacturer rebate)

You know...CA is in a serious deficit problem.
Mr. Terminator the Governor will try every which ways to tax you guys (until dead) !!!

Are there better "bang for your buck" deals this week or is this the one to get?

In CA they charge tax on the pre-rebate price, including these "instant rebates" like the one in this deal. CA gets tax for everything, for example if you buy a smart phone with a 2 year contract, you pay the tax on the $500 retail price, not the $100 or whatever discounted price you actually pay when you buy the phone.

alaskadan said: Are there better "bang for your buck" deals this week or is this the one to get?

I've been monitoring Sony's since Thanksgiving and this is one of the better deals I've seen on 46" and 120Hz. I've been looking for 40" at $600 or less. Probably dreaming.

If I had the money, I'd be in on this.

In the costco review, the person complained about the remote not working too well. Is that true? I find that hard to believe for something as simple as the remote. Any first hand info?

COSTCO model?! - so, no reviews for this particular one !

any remote you buy should be covered in plastic from a zip lock bag due to grease getting into the board of the remote causing it to not work over time
to protect your remote just use zip lock cut out the zip part and make the button side clear from the zip lock logo.

folks, LCD TV would be heavily reduced on price since LED is vely vely (I am not Indian) much going to replace these, although it is LED backlight one, not OLED.

its true led is the new thing in tvs but it cost about 2 to 2 and half times more in cost not worth it in my book.

I think that's the case, hard to tell how it compares to the usual V5100, W5100, or even the VE5 model that WalMart had.

This set is very much identical to the 46-V5100 I purchased from Amazon for $1325.00 in June-09.
Its a VERY nice set.

Or you could wash your hands.

yes true washing hands helps but if you want that remote to last for the long haul zip lock does the job and protects from sweaty hands, dust, dirt, and other air born particles.

KDL-46V5100 is rated high on consumer reports CR overall score 70.

PS. the ziplock bag is a great way to keep jergens off the remote!

What kinds of movies are you watching on that tv???

Very Tempting!! Now Debating on this or the Toshiba for $749

Can you post a link to the Toshiba model you are talking about. I am planning to buy this weekend!

Sony is better puppyc73 i looked at both Toshiba is a cheaper model and does not offer usb device reader like this tv does.

make sure Sony sells you another power supply with this LCD TV!!!
We bought one and 1 1/2 yrs later it wouldn't even turn on due to power supply failure
Not a happy camper nor will I buy another Sony Display.

Are you serious? Do you have vinyl cover on your sofa as well?

Phones are excluded from the blanket laws. They have their own laws. The law is actually worded that if the instant rebate is included with a phone bundle (phone + service) then the full price is taxable.

while were on this topic...

we live in CA and have family in NH, looking to buy a TV soon, if an online deal with free ship comes along would it be worth it for us to have it shipped to NH to avoid tax and recycle fee then pay to have them ship it over to us?

Skipping 76 Messages...

Picked up one tonight from the Smithtown, NY Costco with a raincheck. There are two left in stock. Great picture and sound.
