Hey B-boy, what models are the washer and dryer? The link goes to the "local ad", but there is no local ad in our area this week. That might mean this is a YMMV situation. If you post the model numbers, that will help. thx
I got one in Jan, the washing machine works really nice. Sure it says Admiral, but guy that brought it was from GE, instruction book says Maytag & Whirlpool. It's a clone of a maytag in the store which costs $100 more.
BTW if you have gas hot water it's yearly energy use is just $20.

Yikes - not exactly glowing reviews. I might just keep my 10-year-old Whirlpool W/D set and wait until these front loaders are built to last.
The reviews on homedepot's website are excellent with a 4.5 out of 5 and Sears are average at 3.5/5. I wonder why there's such a discrepancy between the reviews. Anyone have a consumer reports account?
Both for less than $1000 after coupon and accessories.

When I brought up the link for the Washer No. 310754 and the Dryer No. 674586 that THX posted and entered my zip both came up not available for my area but they suggested another set.. a more expensive model for the same price..the same models posted by vkl168.. those were available. I looked to see if lowes, Sears or best buy carried them and all 3 do. For those that want to beat them up with price matching if they are not available in your area. I ran to best buy real quick to look at them and they are NICE. BB had the silver models on display and the washer alone was $899. I came back home ordered the washer and gas dryer for a total with tax and delivery of $1007 for the set in white. Almost a bogo deal compared to the BB price after tax and delivery charges.

Something is fishy about those reviews. Like here's one 1-star review: "After observing the washer and checking the manual, it was quickly discovered that the washer comes with an “Automatic Load Balancer”. What this means is that when it goes to spin at the top speed, if it discovers the weight is off, it stops and rebalances the weight and goes back 3 mins in the wash cycle. I checked the level both front, back, side to side and the diagonals and it was good. I took half the load out thinking I might have overloaded, re-ran the load and it still would rebalance at the top spin cycle."
However, this model doesn't come with that. "Out-of-Balance Detection : No"
One of the other reviews complains about rocking and banging noises and GE told them it was user error. Well, that happens to my top-loading washer too...and it's because it's crammed with too much clothes.
Other reviews were from mid 2008 and don't list the model number. Well, this was released in November 2008, so I'm not sure if Best Buy just carried over reviews from another model or not.

For those of you considering a new dryer, make sure you take gas/electric prices into account. I say this because Home Depot's appliance return policy is not very good. Once you confirm delivery, you're basically stuck with it unless they are able to sell it back to the store that got the sales credit. Check their return policy before making a large appliance purchase.
Where I live (Bay Area), gas is much cheaper to run, and wasn't hard to get a gas line connected myself. Gas dryers use a 120V outlet, and most electric dryers will need a 240V outlet. If you don't already have a 240V outlet, make sure to consider the cost of wiring it, as it can get pricey (you'll most likely need an electrician). I didn't take these into account and almost got "stuck" with an electric dryer, but was able to return it to Home Depot.

Thanks OP. In my area (Manchester CT) I got the WCVH6800JWW washer and DCVH680EJWW dryer for $850+tax after bumping the order just over $1000 and applying the $150 off coupon.
Too bad HD doesn't have an order online for store pickup option. Could've saved the tax as NH is nearby. $1339 delivered isn't too bad though, and I was definitely in the market for one.
Don't forget for $99 you can get a 4 year guarantee on any price washing machine. If anything happens & your washer was under $300, you get a new machine, a refurb or a gift card.
Also, online it states they have a 90 day return policy. The new appliance rebates from the government start this month but are only for certain machines. Also you can get energy rebates if your machine qualifies on top of that. In theory in some cities you could get almost $250 back per machine.

I wasn't aware of 2 rebates? Can you elaborate? I've only seen one that is a federal rebate controlled by the state-- is there another?

States have energy rebates (Usually about $100) & some cities offer a second rebate =($100+50). The gov is going to have a rebate too that is combined with those one or two, so I suppose it would be around $250. Only on specific energy saving models, which is not these $279 ones.

Thank you ChiFW34 for the right coupon code. Ordered the washer and dryer, and the FatWallet community just saved me $150 with the coupon code, as well as the sales tax on the $150 (at 9.75%). Happy camper here. Hope to get the the BCB too. thx
