In spite of the negative comments on FW, I'll probably go ahead and upgrade my several year old copy of Quicken Deluxe. I've used it since the days it was a DOS program and would be lost without it.

This is the best price I've seen and no rebate required. Plus local tax & shipping if ordered via internet.

$19.99 after $20 off at Register. Through the end of February.

Good deal. Too bad the Deluxe version does not include tracking for investments such as stocks and mutual funds.

I guess they do, at least to some extent:

"See the progress you’re making toward your savings goals, with tracking of your loans, investments, 401(k), 529, and IRA accounts" (from the product page)

I am able to track mine with the Deluxe 2008 version as well!

Nice find OP.

Best price for Quicken home and business $64.99 -$20= $44.99. Did not want to upgrade 2007 but this appears to be the cheapest way to retain downloads after April.

Any combos with TurboTax?

Good price for Quicken, but I guess I will stick to Yodlee. It supports more accounts anyway.

Good deals! Thanks for sharing~

Not from costco...

Been waiting on straples FAR with TTax purchase, but looks like it won't happen this year. Been doing this for the last 6+ years...

Might skip it and install 2009 which I still have shrink in box (still running 2008 on Win7)...

Good price, kudos to OP. Quicken no longer has competition from MS Money, so I suspect we'll be seeing fewer and fewer good deals on this product.

I wouldn't do the 2009 as they only allow you to use the software for 3 yrs and your 2008 version is almost up (1 more year). So your 2009 wouldn't be far behind.

Quicken Premier includes investment tracking tools, and is on sale also. Normally $59 at my warehouse, $39 w/ $20 off coupon.

This seems to be online only? Can anyone confirm if this is available in the B&M as well? We go to costco about once a month so I'd like to avoid the shipping fee if possible.

Is there any free shipping codes? They want to charge me for shipping.

Smart move. 2009 is less buggy anyway (after 7 patch releases) and not like they have anything new in 2010 version that you'll miss out on by using the 2009 version.

It's also B&M. Coupon for $20 off all versions in the Feb. Costco coupon book through 2/28 link.

This year, Staples and others have/had FAR Quicken Starter. That's it.

Last year, I bought TT Deluxe on the internet for $28 delivered. This year, I checked with the place I brought from. They will not have it this year. No deals available. Cheapest I have seen for TT Deluxe was $29.99 plus tax after coupon at Costco or Amazon for $39.99 less $10 rebate from Intuit.

Thanks OP, I'm a non-member in for 1 with a $2 surcharge plus 2.99 shipping and $2.70 tax. Still a great deal. I also have been using Quicken since DOS days and have data and reports dating back to 1992. The information if you are good about entering things is invaluable for budgeting, planning and most of all to FW'ers warranty details about original purchases.

I ordered even though had to pay shipping. I do not pay sales tax since they do not have a Costco in my state.

I just picked up the Premier version with the coupon this weekend. I was in a forced upgrade situation since I was still on 2007. Costco deal was by far the best price I could find.

Deluxe does not track investments:

Quicken Comparison

It does track them, it just doesn't have some of the extra features like cost basis tracking.

I have Quicken 2008 home & business version.Every time I input the "investing" transaction,(ok with personal cash flow-checking account transaction) it took much longer (about 9-10 seconds)than I expected to complete each transaction.Any one has same problem?
I'm thinking to get this 2010 Deluxe version,if it takes shorter time to complete the inputting.

I do recall a lot of downloads for Quicken but my thought/assumption was that they were to update banking information. With the banking industry as turbulent and changing as it has been the past year it didn't surprise me at all.

Do you have information that confirms that they were "bug" fixes? I found NO bugs in my 2007 and I was asked if I wanted the updates which I suspect are the same ones that you were downloading for 2009.

I AM getting tired of the warnings about the lack of support in a month or 2. And I just installed 2007 a year or so ago after getting it this time of year when there were deals involving tax software and the like. I have NOT seen those good deals this year and that's why I posted this deal and 2 days ago did BUY THE $19.99 Deluxe version at Costco.

I guess the person who asks about the shipping cost didn't read my original post very carefully. I did say local tax and shipping if you get it via the Internet.

I still think the Deluxe version is fine for tracking stocks FOR ME anyway.

Anybody know if your older version is Premier, can you upgrade with the Deluxe? Thanks.

anyone using mint.com the free online version owned by Intuit?

Well there is mint.com which intuit bought and closed down online Quicken. They also have QuickBooks online but that is only free for 30 days. Anyone considering Quicken should look at mint.com. Very impressive and they are constantly adding new features. You can easily use it for Business purposes as well.

Good deal.

FWIW, I was a 10-year user of MS Money, and had to convert to Quicken earlier this year. I HATED it. No "Intuit"ive process like MS Money had, confusing layout and I missed the simple yet very productive look and feel of MS Money, even after spending a few weeks with Quicken. So much, that I ended up buying MS Money from eBay again even though I know it will stop downloads early next year. SOO much happier. Also tried Mint, and really liked it. If you are an old MS Money user, I would recommend giving Mint a try and see if it suffices your needs.

why buy Quicken when you can get it free with mint.com?
what does mint.com can't do that Quicken can?
thanks

Biggest issue with Mint is that all of your information is stored online. They claim that it is safe, but still requires your account information and passwords, so someone can still break in to their system and steal your data.

and someone can break into your online banking/credit card system and steal your money too.

That limits exposure to only one of your accounts. With mint, all your accounts and password info. is compromised if mint security is compromised. Chances of this happening are small, and if you are willing to take that risk, mint is a very good tool.

If I write a few checks they do not show up in Mint until they are cashed by the receiver so you do not have a 'running' balance on how much money you have. This is my only issue with Mint. Until they figure out a way to let you add checks in a registry as you write them the online services are useless to me. I just bought Quicken Deluxe yesterday while at Costco and it does say track investments on the box. Personally I would liek to go online for anywhere access but the delay in check posting is an issue.

Good deal. By the way, I've been using Quicken Deluxe for years and it absolutely does let you track your investments. It handles them very well, actually. As the earlier poster said, I believe Premier just has more tools for managing asset allocation, doing research, etc. It also might handle some of the more exotic investments better than Deluxe, but I don't have experience with that.

I also find the 2010 version more stable and fast than either the 2008 and 2009 versions. Maybe a nice reversing of trend for Intuit? (I can hope)

That's why I don't use mint. You can't compare security of an online bank with mint. No doubt banks test their online banking system to make it hack proof, whereas mint is not a bank and don't have the incentive to do so--- if their site gets hacked, are they liable for your financial loss? I highly doubt it. Will your bank cover your loss if mint gets hacked? I doubt that too.

Another thing, HSBC, for example, requires you to enter an additional password via onscreen keyboard so keyloggers can't detect it... using mint defeats this security.

Has anyone ever tried downloading any torrents of this software?

If you don't mind about getting trojans and other backdoor malware stuff to steal your data from your very own computer, go for it. AV software don't work 100% of time.
